The world’s best 48 teams per gender are set to discover their initial opponents for the highly anticipated 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide.

The eagerly awaited draw for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Adelaide 2025 is scheduled to take place this Thursday. The ceremony, commencing at 11:00 AM local Adelaide time (00:30 UTC), will unveil the initial pool matchups for the 96 elite teams (48 per gender) vying for the championship title. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to follow the proceedings live.
This 15th edition of the World Championships, slated to run from November 14 to 23, marks a significant milestone. It stands as the largest beach volleyball competition ever hosted in Oceania and is only the second such event to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. The tournament will adhere to its familiar competition format, featuring 48 teams per gender, with representation from all five continental confederations.
Participating teams will be organized into 12 pools, each comprising four teams, for a single round-robin phase. The top two teams from each pool, along with the four best third-placed teams across all pools, will directly advance to the Round of 32. The remaining eight third-placed teams will then compete in a “lucky loser round,” where the four winners will also secure their spot in the Round of 32. Following this stage, the tournament transitions into direct elimination rounds, progressing through the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and ultimately culminating in the two medal matches. A grand total of 216 matches, equally divided between genders, are planned for the Adelaide 2025 World Championships.
