Allan Sharp, who serves as President of the Belize Volleyball Association and previously as Secretary General for the organization, has been elected the new President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA). The election took place during the National Olympic Committee’s Annual General Meeting held on June 28.
Sharp succeeds Hilberto Martinez, who had held the presidential role since 2013. Sharp`s leadership of the Belize Volleyball Association began in 2008, and he served as BOCGA’s Secretary General starting in 2017.
The newly elected Executive Board is set to serve a four-year term concluding in 2029. Alongside President Sharp, the board members elected were Herman Pastor as Vice President, Giovanni Alamilla as Secretary General, Sharon Hardwick as Assistant Secretary General, and Arturo Vasquez as Treasurer.
Additionally, three Executive Members were elected: Kaya Cattouse, Raul Rosado, and Leticia Westby.
The new Executive Board commences its term with a focus on promoting sporting excellence, strengthening unity across the Belizean sports community, and supporting the ongoing development of sport throughout the country.
This leadership group is expected to build upon recent progress achieved both domestically and through Belize’s participation in regional and international sporting events.
