Armenia Readies to Host Unprecedented EuroVolleyU16M Final Round

Armenia is on the verge of hosting a historic sporting event: the Final Round of this year’s #EuroVolleyU16M. Just days before the tournament`s commencement, a celebratory event took place on Northern Avenue, featuring prominent figures such as Hasmik Avagyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports; Karen Asmaryan, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia; members of the Armenian U16 national team; coaches; and enthusiastic sports fans.

An event was held in Yerevan downtown to celebrate the upcoming #EuroVolleyU16M Final Round.

Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan welcomed attendees, extending her congratulations for the forthcoming event. She highlighted the recent significant progress made by the federation and the national team. Avagyan conveyed her best wishes to the home team. She also underscored Armenia’s strategic policy of hosting international tournaments, believing it effectively raises the nation`s profile on the global sports stage.

Karen Asmaryan, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), also addressed the gathering, commending the organization of this unprecedented volleyball event in Armenia in 2025. He revealed that the VFA has dedicated approximately three years to preparing for this championship, exerting maximum effort. Asmaryan extended gratitude to the coaches for their indispensable role in the team`s achievements. He also acknowledged the crucial support from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, Sports and the Yerevan Municipality, expressing optimism that the Armenian team will achieve significant success. Furthermore, Asmaryan encouraged a strong turnout of fans to support the Armenian U16 national team during the championship matches.

VFA Secretary General Karen Asmaryan was among the speakers at the event organised in the city centre of the Armenian capital.

The #EuroVolleyU16M Final Round is scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 3. The tournament will feature Armenia alongside 15 other national teams. In Pool I, the host nation will compete against Austria, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain. Pool II includes Bulgaria, Czechia, France, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine. Across the championship, a total of 60 matches are planned, to be played at the Gazprom Armenia Sports Complex and the Russian-Armenian University gymnasium, both located in the capital city.
