The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) marked a significant moment with the official inauguration of its new headquarters, the AVC House, situated in Bangkok. This historic opening took place during the ongoing FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025, hosted in Thailand from August 22 to September 7, and shortly before the commencement of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 (September 12–28).
The ceremony commenced with a warm address from AVC President Ramon Suzara, who reflected on the AVC’s journey and articulated its ambitious vision for the future of volleyball across the Asian and Oceanian regions.
“The AVC House is envisioned as a central hub for unity and excellence in Asian volleyball… This facility transcends a mere building; it embodies a welcoming and open home, truly reflecting the spirit of Asia.”
President Suzara further highlighted the unique timing of the inauguration, adding: “This period marks a very special juncture for Asian volleyball, as both of our sport`s premier global events are being hosted in Asia. In just a couple of days, we will witness the finals of the FIVB Women’s World Championship right here in Bangkok, and in one week, the FIVB Men’s World Championship will commence in the Philippines. These events unequivocally demonstrate Asia’s pivotal and growing importance in the world of volleyball… May this new House serve as a collaborative space where the future of volleyball is collectively built.”
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo joined the event, expressing his admiration for the AVC’s unwavering commitment to expanding the sport and underscoring Bangkok`s strategic role as a burgeoning center for volleyball development.
“Asia stands as an indispensable hub for volleyball’s global evolution, and this assembly reflects our shared aspirations for the future. To truly unleash volleyball’s full potential, all stakeholders must operate synergistically as one. Through unified collaboration, we can empower the next generation, forge broader opportunities, and ensure that volleyball continues to inspire communities and foster global unity.”
The event saw the attendance of numerous esteemed dignitaries and sports leaders from across Asia, including John Patrick C. Gregorio, Chairperson of the Philippine Sports Commission, and Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association.
