While the 2025 CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals will be a major event in European beach volleyball this week, teams from the continent who did not qualify for that prestigious competition will find another opportunity to compete. The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is set to host a Futures tournament in Leuven, Belgium, over the coming days.

The Vandecaveye brothers, Gilles and Louis, will aim for their first podium finish in Leuven.

Leuven is welcoming international beach volleyball for the fifth year in a row. Matches will take place at the popular Monseigneur Ladeuzeplein square from Friday to Monday, coinciding with Belgium`s National Day.

Hoping to give home fans an extra reason to celebrate on the final day of the event, host nation Belgium will have four teams directly entering the men`s main draw: Kyan Vercauteren/Joppe Van Langendonck, Louis Vandecaveye/Gilles Vandecaveye, Christophe Witvrouwen/Daan Hendrikx, and Berre Peters/Wout Nuyttens.

Beach Pro Tour Leuven Futures – Men

Both Vercauteren/Van Langendonck, who secured victory in Qidong, China, last month, and the Vandecaveye brothers, who topped the podium in Ios, Greece, also in June, have already triumphed in Futures events this season.

This week`s event in Belgium will feature two Olympians: Latvian Edgar Tocs, who represented his country in Tokyo 2020 and is partnering with Gustavs Auzins, and Polish Piotr Kantor, a participant in both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games, who will play alongside Artem Besarab.

The men’s competition will see representatives from 18 countries: Belgium (5), Germany (3), Poland (3), Czechia (2), Sweden (2), Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, and Switzerland.

On the women’s side, the host country will also have four teams guaranteed a spot in the main draw: Youna Coens/Sarah Cools, Lisa Van Den Vonder/Louka Maertens, Jade Van Deun/Lotte De Clercq, and Britt Ruysschaert/Isabel Van den Broeck.

Unlike their male counterparts, Belgian female duos have yet to win medals on the Beach Pro Tour in 2025 and will be striving to achieve this for the first time in front of their home supporters this week.

Beach Pro Tour Leuven Futures – Women

The host country accounts for the majority of the 28 teams entered in the event, with five duos set to compete this week. They are followed by the Netherlands (4), Finland (2), Peru (2), Poland (2), and one team each from Argentina, Austria, Canada, Czechia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Morocco, Norway, Slovakia, and the United States.

`Lisa
Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz are among the four Dutch female teams competing in Belgium this week.

The first day of matches in Leuven will feature qualifying rounds for both genders. The main draw will commence on Saturday with pool play and continue on Sunday with the elimination rounds. The semifinals and medal matches are scheduled for Monday.

The Beach Pro Tour Futures events in Europe are organized by the CEV in close cooperation with Volleyball World, offering teams from the continent numerous opportunities to compete and earn valuable international ranking points.
