Mayer and Cameron Split by Security After Fiery Weigh-In Clash
The pre-fight atmosphere between Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron turned unexpectedly tense at Friday's weigh-in, leading to security intervening to separate the two rivals. What had been a respectful build-up quickly escalated into a verbal spat, with Cameron audibly vowing to "smash her head in" ahead of their highly anticipated super-welterweight world title bout.
American fighter Mikaela Mayer, holding the WBA and WBC belts, successfully made weight at 148lbs, three pounds lighter than her previous bout in October 2025. WBO champion Chantelle Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) also met her weight requirement at 147.6lbs, preparing for her second super-welterweight contest following her victory in April.
This clash is shaping up to be a significant event in women's boxing, featuring two accomplished champions. Mayer is a former three-weight world champion, while Cameron is recognized as the only woman to have defeated boxing icon Katie Taylor in her professional career.
The heated exchange was reportedly initiated by comments made by Mayer when the fighters came face-to-face. Cameron appeared displeased with what was said, retorting, "She isn't intimidating me, all that yapping, getting in my face, watch now, watch tomorrow." She further asserted, "You're deluded. Shut your mouth, you are so deluded. I didn't say a word, you are making things up because you don't believe in yourself. You're going to get humbled. I'm gonna smash her f****** head in now."
The confrontation seemed to surprise many, possibly including Mayer herself. Responding to Cameron's words, Mayer stated, "She said I'm too slow, but there is no way Chantelle Cameron is faster than me. I didn't know this Chantelle Cameron existed, I like it."
Dubois and Moore exchange heated words
Elsewhere on the card, tensions also flared between Caroline Dubois and Amelia Moore during their face-off, with the fighters exchanging a series of insults.
WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Dubois weighed in at 134.8lbs and issued a stark warning to her American opponent, stating, "She knows I'm coming to take her head off. Welcome to my world." Moore, however, countered, insisting, "This is my world. I've been waiting my whole life for this point, my whole life." The American challenger, with a professional record of 4-0, was slightly lighter than Dubois, weighing in at 134.4lbs.
Dubois might be on a path to face WBO, WBA, and IBF super featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner, who is moving up to the Londoner's weight division to fight Elif Nur Turhan on November 8.
Other fighters on the card also made weight. Terri Harper tipped the scales at 137.8lbs for her return bout after her loss to Dubois in April. She is set to face Miranda Reyes, who weighed in at 136.6lbs. Jessica Barry will fight Reina Tellez, with both weighing in at 125.6lbs. Tysie Gallagher (121.6lbs) is making her debut under the MVP banner against Brandi Robinson (121.6lbs).
