QPR Secure Comeback Victory at Blackburn

Queens Park Rangers (QPR) have secured their second victory in their last three Sky Bet Championship matches, achieving a 2-1 comeback win against Blackburn Rovers.

Following a balanced first half, Blackburn took the lead in the 49th minute with a spectacular volley from Ryoya Morishita. However, QPR quickly responded, netting the equalizer within two minutes through a composed finish from Paul Smyth. They completed their comeback and deservedly took the lead in the 74th minute courtesy of a powerful header from Jimmy Dunne.

Julien Stephan's team demonstrated significant character to recover from the initial setback. They have now accumulated seven points from a possible nine, placing them fourth in the league standings at this early stage of the season.

Blackburn's unbeaten run has now come to an end. While their effort was commendable, Tony Mowbray's squad appeared to lack the offensive depth and options from the substitutes' bench when compared to their opponents.

Despite a strong start from QPR, Blackburn created the first clear scoring opportunity in the 21st minute. Ryan Alebiosu made a strong run down the right flank, delivering a precise cross to Todd Cantwell at the far post. Unfortunately, Cantwell directed his unmarked header over the crossbar.

Nine minutes later, the same duo combined to come even closer. Alebiosu's center missed all players, and Cantwell showcased excellent technique by stepping back before unleashing a bouncing shot that narrowly went past the far post.

QPR should have taken the lead when Rumarn Burrell set up Ilias Chair, but Balazs Toth's outstretched left leg managed to deny him.

As halftime approached, Ronnie Edwards forced another fine save from Toth. The goalkeeper stretched fully to tip away a curling shot from 20 yards out that was heading for the bottom right corner.

Blackburn broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion at the beginning of the second half. Andri Gudjohnsen's flick-on found Morishita, who controlled the ball before unleashing an astonishing left-footed volley from 20 yards that flew into the top corner.

QPR's response was immediate. Burrell advanced down the right flank and delivered an intelligent low cross that found Smyth at the near post, who expertly guided the ball past Toth.

A superb reflex save from Charles in the 53rd minute prevented Blackburn from regaining the lead, as he got down low to flick away Alebiosu's cross.

From that point on, QPR asserted their dominance. Burrell saw a glancing header go wide in the 64th minute, and further chances were missed when substitute Kwame Poku directed Burrell's left-wing cross wide, and Edwards flashed another powerful shot past the post.

Their pressure was rewarded 16 minutes from the end. QPR regained possession following a clearance, and Tariq Lamptey's excellent cross set up Dunne for a powerful close-range header that found the back of the net.

Alfie Lloyd had a late shot blocked, but QPR comfortably secured their second consecutive win at Ewood Park.
