Sturm Graz Secures German Defender Joshua Quarshie on Loan from Southampton

Sturm Graz has bolstered its defense with the addition of Joshua Quarshie. The Austrian club announced the arrival of the 22-year-old German center-back, who joins the Graz-based team on a season-long loan from Championship club Southampton.

A German U21 international, Quarshie honed his skills in the youth academies of Schalke 04 and Fortuna Düsseldorf before making the move to England. Last season, he made 18 appearances for Southampton.

SK Sturm welcomes a new defender: Joshua Quarshie signs on a one-year loan deal on the banks of the Mur. SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz is pleased to announce the signing of Joshua Quarshie. The 22-year-old center-back is a current German U21 international and arrives on a year-long loan from English Championship club Southampton FC. Last season, Quarshie, who trained in the youth systems of clubs including Schalke and Düsseldorf, played a total of 18 matches for Southampton. "After meeting the team today, I immediately had a really positive feeling. I'm eager to get on the pitch with the lads as soon as possible, give my all, and achieve victories," stated the player. "During our discussions, the SK Sturm management presented a very interesting project that truly appealed to me. SK Sturm has significant ambitions in the league, cup, and European competitions – I want to contribute my best to help the team reach these goals by offering my qualities."

The Austrian club's sporting director, Michael Parensen, added: "Following Jeyland Mitchell's departure, we wanted to add a player with a similar profile to our defense, and with Joshua Quarshie's signing, we have succeeded. Joshua received excellent training in Germany, possesses tremendous speed, brings a significant physical presence to his game, and is very proficient with both feet. We are very happy that Joshua will strengthen us this season and eagerly anticipate seeing him on the field as soon as possible."
