Players from the Hungarian club regularly use bicycles, advocating for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

During this year`s European Mobility Week, the city of Békéscsaba, with the active participation of its volleyball club, enthusiastically joined the global Car-Free Day Movement. This impactful initiative, supported by a multitude of participants, successfully elevated environmental consciousness and actively promoted the increased use of bicycles and walking as viable transportation alternatives.

Notably, the dedication of Békéscsaba Volleyball Club players to sustainable transport extends far beyond symbolic events. They seamlessly integrate cycling into their daily lives, relying on this mode of transport for their everyday needs, thereby embodying the healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle they advocate.

This commendable campaign was originally launched by the club ten years ago, during the 2015/2016 season. The initial concept allowed supporters to purchase personalized bicycles for the team members and staff, each adorned with the player`s name and jersey number. The initiative proved to be an overwhelming success, quickly attracting numerous entrepreneurs and donors who recognized its potential and enthusiastically backed the cause. This widespread support enabled the project to flourish and subsequently gain significant coverage across various written media platforms.

“Ten years ago, we pioneered the idea of providing each of our players and staff members with a unique bicycle, customized with their name and number, made possible by the generosity of our supporters. It fills us with immense joy and pride to see that the core concept of this project has since been adopted in several other European countries. Sustainability is absolutely essential for our club; we are committed to setting a positive example for future generations. Furthermore, Békéscsaba boasts an excellent cycling infrastructure, which has seen substantial improvements in recent years.”

Indeed, Békéscsaba is recognized as an exceptionally cyclist-friendly city, thanks to its extensive bicycle path network, which now stretches over 90 kilometers, providing ample opportunities for safe and convenient cycling.
