BVC Ludus Ljubljana Claims Double Gold at Slovenian National Club Championships

Last Sunday, the Sports Park Ludus was buzzing with excitement, hosting both the Slovenian Beach Volleyball Club National Championships and a parallel ParaVolley Europe event, truly embodying the inclusive spirit of the sport. The home team, BVC Ludus Ljubljana, delivered an outstanding performance, successfully defending their men`s and women`s titles in a clean sweep.

BVC Ludus secured yet another title in the women`s competition.

Women`s Competition Triumph

In the women`s category, BVC Ludus showcased a powerful blend of seasoned talent and emerging stars. The core of their success lay with the formidable duo of Tjasa Kotnik and Helena Mijoc, who remarkably recreated their successful partnership from the MEVZA Club Championship final`s Golden Set earlier this year. They received strong support from the promising U22 national team pair, Zoja Kalar and Neza Bednjanic. The silver medal was claimed by the skilled young team from OK Lubnik, represented by Slovenia`s U20 and U18 national team members, Anja Potocnik and Neja Ferdin. VC Portoroz`s youthful squad secured third place.

Men`s Competition Dominance

The men’s tournament was a clear demonstration of BVC Ludus’s strategic depth and talent pool. One dominant pair featured the newly crowned national champion, David Renko, alongside the legendary Danijel Pokersnik, a record 10-time national champion. The club’s second strong contingent included national championships bronze medallist Jaka Jevsnik, supported by Maks Sluga, Yan Pigarev, and Nejc Zemljak. This collective strength proved crucial in their final victory over the impressive young athletes from Klub Moderne Odbojke, Miha Kosanc and Benjamin Mugerli, who recently competed at the U22 European Championships in Baden, Austria. OK Lubnik also earned a bronze medal in the men`s event.

A Memorable Double Victory

These twin victories on their home turf not only cement BVC Ludus`s reputation as the premier force in Slovenian club Beach Volleyball but also provide significant momentum for their upcoming participation in the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025, concluding a truly memorable day of high-level competition.
