Carol & Rebecca Soar to Historic World No. 3 Ranking

Brazilian beach volleyball stars Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti have achieved a significant milestone, ascending to the third position in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking for the first time in their partnership. This impressive climb follows their quarterfinal performance at the recent Montreal Elite event on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour.

Adding to the excitement, Swedish prodigies Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson also reached a new personal best. Their silver medal victory in Montreal propelled them four spots higher, securing an impressive fourth place in the global rankings, just one week after their initial entry into the top eight.

Women`s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking Update

Carol and Rebecca`s fifth-place finish in Canada contributed 760 points to their total, bringing them to a new high of 5,980 points. This leap enabled them to surpass both USA`s Terese Cannon & Megan Kraft and Austria`s Dorina Klinger & Ronja Klinger, moving them from fifth to third in the world. Their previous highest ranking was fourth, which they held for three weeks in July.

Despite their defeat by Carol and Rebecca in the Montreal eighth-finals, Switzerland`s Anouk Verge-Depre and Zoe Verge-Depre also reached a new team record in the World Ranking. The Swiss sisters retained most of their 600 points from a ninth-place finish, climbing from seventh to fifth with a total of 5,560 points. In this process, they moved ahead of Cannon & Kraft, now ranked seventh after missing the Montreal event, and Latvia`s Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova, who remained at sixth despite reaching the semifinals.

Brazil`s Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes continue to dominate the Women`s World Ranking, holding the top spot with 7,880 points. They maintain a substantial 1,820-point lead over second-ranked Germans Svenja Muller and Cinja Tillmann. Muller and Tillmann, who finished as runners-up in Canada, saw their score improve by only 300 points due to the expiration of points from their CEV European Championship title last August.

The remainder of the women`s top 10 is comprised of Italy`s Valentina Gottardi & Reka Orsi Toth (eighth), USA`s Kristen Nuss & Taryn Brasher (ninth), and Ukraine`s Maryna Hladun & Tetiana Lazarenko (tenth).

Montreal champions Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada saw a significant ascent from 35th to 18th place, accumulating 4,080 points from five qualifying tournaments. Reigning Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos & Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) of Brazil, who earned bronze in Canada, climbed from 57th to 33rd with 3,360 points from four tournaments. Meanwhile, Ren Matsumoto and Non Matsumoto of Japan, winners of last week`s Busan Gwangalli Futures in Korea, advanced from 54th to 45th.

Men`s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking Update

The young Swedish duo, 20-year-old Holting Nilsson and 19-year-old Andersson, achieved their third consecutive medal on the Beach Pro Tour, rocketing all the way up to fourth place globally. They netted 700 of the 1,100 points earned from their Montreal silver, boosting their score to 6,120 points. These rising stars are now 1,040 points below their compatriots, Olympic champions David Ahman & Jonatan Hellvig, whom they sensationally defeated in a Montreal semifinal.

World Ranking leaders Anders Mol & Christian Sorum of Norway, who claimed the men’s trophy in Canada, increased their total to 8,600 points, gaining 440 points. Despite finishing fourth, Ahman & Hellvig managed to narrow the gap to the “Beachvolley Vikings,” now trailing by 1,440 points.

Reigning world champions Ondrej Perusic & David Schweiner of Czechia secured bronze in Montreal and made a significant leap from 11th to fifth in the World Ranking.

Argentina’s Nicolas Capogrosso & Tomas Capogrosso, who reached the quarterfinals last week, maintained their third place. They are currently 260 points behind Ahman & Hellvig and 780 points ahead of Holting Nilsson & Andersson.

The remainder of the men’s top 10 includes Qatar’s Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan, Netherlands’ Stefan Boermans & Yorick de Groot, Brazil’s Evandro Oliveira & Arthur Mariano Lanci, Latvia’s Martins Plavins & Kristians Fokerots, and Norway’s Mathias Berntsen & Hendrik Mol, listed in descending order.
