Author: Federico Ferraro

The CEV Beach Volley European Cup, now in its third year, has seen remarkable growth. A record 28 men`s and 22 women`s clubs, representing 24 National Federations, have registered for the upcoming preliminary phase in late September and early October. This expansion highlights the event`s success in elevating the importance of Beach Volleyball clubs for sport development.

Players competing in the CEV Beach Volley European Cup

The CEV Beach Volley European Cup returns for its third edition with record-breaking participation numbers.

Initiated in 2023, the CEV Beach Volley European Cup has consistently expanded its reach. The inaugural event in Balikesir, Türkiye, that autumn featured 10 clubs per gender from nine nations. By last year`s edition in Montpellier, participation had risen to 16 clubs per gender from 15 National Federations. For 2025, the tournament has further engaged Zonal Associations, with BVA, MEVZA, and WEVZA organizing their own qualifying rounds.

Following a summer of extensive domestic club competitions across 26 countries, the participating clubs for the preliminary phase were officially confirmed today after registration closed. These impressive numbers underscore the CEV Beach Volley European Cup`s vital role in advancing the sport. Its distinctive and engaging format emphasizes team depth and collective strength over individual star power.

Azerrail secured an unprecedented triumph last year in Montpellier.

Many clubs from diverse National Federations will mark their first-ever appearance in this competition. Meanwhile, some nations have earned the right to register two clubs, thanks to their strong European Ranking position and/or success in zonal qualifiers. While most National Federations have entered teams in both men`s and women`s categories, Armenia, Czechia, England, the Netherlands, and Switzerland will compete solely in the men`s event. Lithuania, however, is participating exclusively in the women`s tournament.

The women`s team of Azerrail will be trying to retain their continental crown as well.

Greece`s 4 Sports Club Athens has already qualified for the final stage, set for early November in Heraklion, and will represent the host nation.
