CEV School Project Mobilizes Almost 600,000 People Across Europe!

The school year has concluded across Europe, and the achievements of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ are truly astonishing. This initiative, launched by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) in collaboration with approximately 30 National Federations to promote volleyball in schools, engaged nearly 600,000 individuals, including students, teachers, coaches, staff, and many others mobilized through promotional events.

The CEV School Project continues to offer an ideal platform for young people to become acquainted with volleyball, acquire fundamental motor and technical skills, and embrace the spirit of teamwork and fair play. It also fosters a healthy lifestyle, which is paramount in today`s world. The participation of school pupils has seen exponential growth year-over-year (+82%), reaching almost 143,000. Girls constitute the majority (81,243; +75%), while significant efforts in many countries to engage boys have also yielded positive results (61,683; +93%).

Equally impressive is the program`s success in mobilizing an unprecedented number of coaches, physical education teachers, clubs, and primary schools. Beyond integrating volleyball into the school curriculum, the project is also designed to encourage sustained participation among these young athletes, enabling them to transition from merely attending PE classes to actively joining local volleyball clubs.

All participation figures have surpassed previous records, largely due to the execution of 222 capacity-building events across Europe, as the School Project is now active in around 30 countries. These events – such as workshops, webinars, and seminars – facilitate the broader distribution of educational materials and inspire coaches and teachers, equipping them with the necessary expertise to guide young players at the foundational level of the sport.
