The second round of the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà regular season has concluded, leaving four teams with perfect records. Among them is Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, which delivered the weekend`s biggest surprise by overcoming formidable Numia Vero Volley Milano.
Alongside Chieri, Savino Del Bene Scandicci, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, and reigning champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano also maintained their spotless campaigns with strong performances.
Following an away win against Il Bisonte Firenze in the previous week, Chieri achieved an even more remarkable feat in Sunday’s final match. They triumphed over title contenders Milano in a grueling five-set contest (36-34, 19-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-12) played before their enthusiastic home crowd.
A key offseason acquisition, Hungarian opposite Anett Németh, shone brightly, leading all scorers with an impressive 29 points (26 kills, two aces, one block). World champion outside hitter Stella Nervini also contributed significantly, racking up 20 points, all from kills.
“We poured so much effort into this,” Németh remarked enthusiastically. “We played an excellent game last week in Firenze, and we replicated that effort today. We are truly delighted.”
For Milano, star opposite Paola Egonu registered 24 points (23 kills, one ace), ten more than Serbian middle blocker Hena Kurtagić.
Defending champions Conegliano now share five points in the standings with Chieri, thanks to a dominant performance from Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak, who scored 26 points (20 kills, three blocks, three aces). Her contribution led them to a clean sweep (25-18, 25-16, 26-24) against Honda Cuneo Granda Volley in their first home match of the season on Sunday.
Scandicci and Novara Lead the Pack
Surpassing both Chieri and Conegliano in the league table are Scandicci and Novara, each accumulating six points after winning their first two matches without dropping a single set. Scandicci commenced the weekend’s action on Saturday, securing a 3-1 home victory (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 28-26) over Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia.
Olympic champion opposite Ekaterina Antropova spearheaded Scandicci’s attack with 24 points (20 kills, two blocks, two aces), though Perugia`s American opposite Kashauna Williams slightly outscored her with 25 points (24 kills, one block).
Courmayeur Cup winners Novara, playing on their home court, comfortably defeated Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio in four sets, triumphing 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-20). American middle blocker Amber Igiede was a standout with 19 points (15 kills, four blocks), two more than Japanese outside hitter Mayu Ishikawa, who contributed 16 kills and one block.
Firenze initiated their 2025-2026 Italian League campaign with a crucial away victory, overcoming Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia in a hard-fought five-set match (25-11, 20-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-11). Serbian opposite Vanja Bukilić was instrumental, recording an impressive 30 points (25 kills, three blocks, two aces).
Wash4Green Monviso Volley also secured their inaugural win of the season on the road, sweeping CBF Balducci HR Macerata in three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-17). Opposite Adhuoljok Malual emerged as the most effective player, delivering 18 points, all through kills.
Bergamo also celebrated a home victory on Sunday, defeating Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-18). Cuban outside hitter Ailama Cesé led their scoring with 18 points, comprising 16 kills and two blocks.
The 14 teams participating in the Italian League will have a brief recovery period before the third round of matches, scheduled for Wednesday.
