The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball World have officially announced that the Netherlands will host the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2027. This decision follows a highly competitive selection process involving three nations that submitted compelling proposals. While all bids were highly praised for their quality and potential to contribute to the global development of the sport, the Netherlands presented the most ambitious and extensive concept, spanning four cities.
The Dutch Volleyball Federation (Nevobo) possesses significant experience in organizing major volleyball events, such as the Volleyball Nations League and the FIVB Volleyball World Championships, and has demonstrated its ability to engage communities across various regions of the country.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, commenting on the confirmation of the 2027 Beach Volleyball World Championships venue, noted: “The 2027 Beach Volleyball World Championships in the Netherlands marks both a return and a bold step forward, aligning with the FIVB`s Strategic Vision 2032 aimed at strengthening the Global Volleyball Movement. We are confident that this championship will set new standards for excellence, innovation, sustainability, and community engagement. We eagerly anticipate working with Nevobo and local partners to make it an unforgettable celebration, both on and off the sand. With a passionate fanbase and a proven track record, including the highly successful 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships held across four cities, the Netherlands is ready to host a great World Championships once again.”
Volleyball World Chief Business Officer Guido Betti added: “The Netherlands` approach to the World Championships extends beyond merely hosting a tournament; it aims to create a lasting legacy for beach volleyball across the entire country. We are witnessing rapid growth in beach volleyball and its competitions, and the Netherlands` approach is exactly what we envision shaping the future of this sport.”
Nevobo President Peter Sprenger remarked: “Hosting the 2027 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is not just about a single tournament; it`s about laying the foundation for sustainable growth and long-term social and economic benefits. Building on our 15-year strategy of organizing international indoor and beach volleyball events, we have seen firsthand how sport can inspire communities and attract new fans. As the popularity of beach volleyball continues to rise worldwide, including in the Netherlands, this event will attract many new sports enthusiasts, inspire new generations, and strengthen community bonds. We believe it will create a thriving legacy that elevates beach volleyball across the country and the world for years to come.”
