Czech Beach Volleyball Duos Crowned Champions at Home Brno Futures

The Czech Republic rejoiced as its home teams, Valerie Dvornikova & Michaela Brinkova and Jakub Sepka & Jiri Sedlak, captured gold medals at the Brno Futures tournament on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. The event was a resounding success for Czech beach volleyball, culminating in an all-Czech men`s final where Adam Waber & Matyas Jezek secured the silver. Switzerland’s Florian Breer & Luc Fluckiger took home the men`s bronze. In the women`s competition, France`s Elsa Descamps & Anouk Dupin earned silver, while Estonia`s Heleene Hollas & Liisa Remmelg claimed the bronze.

For Valerie Dvornikova, 22, and Michaela Brinkova, 23, this marked their maiden Beach Pro Tour gold medal, building on previous podium finishes with different partners. Despite being seeded 11th in the main draw, the duo showcased exceptional form, achieving five consecutive victories. Their path to gold included a hard-fought all-Czech semifinal against Anna Pospisilova & Daniela Mokra, which they won 2-1 (15-21, 21-19, 16-14). In the final, Dvornikova & Brinkova staged another remarkable comeback, triumphing 2-1 (27-29, 21-12, 15-12) over the French pair Descamps & Dupin.

Women`s Tournament Highlights

Anouk Dupin, 22, continued her impressive streak, earning a podium spot at every Beach Pro Tour event she`s attended this year. Her 2025 collection now includes two golds, three silvers, and a bronze from six Futures tournaments with various partners, adding to a bronze from 2023. This silver medal with Elsa Descamps marks their second consecutive medal together, following a silver at the Montpellier Futures last month. For Descamps, this was her fourth career podium finish on the Beach Pro Tour. The second-seeded French team reached the Brno final after four straight wins, narrowly defeating Heleene Hollas & Liisa Remmelg 2-1 (21-12, 19-21, 17-15) in their semifinal.

The fourth-seeded Estonian duo of Hollas & Remmelg bounced back from their semifinal loss to secure the bronze medal. They achieved a dominant 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) victory over Pospisilova & Mokra in the third-place match, ending the tournament with a 4-1 win-loss record and adding an eighth Beach Pro Tour medal to their collection.

Men`s Tournament Highlights

In the men’s category, top seeds Jakub Sepka and Jiri Sedlak delivered a flawless performance, sweeping through the Brno tournament without dropping a single set in their five matches. This victory marks their second gold and third overall medal on the Beach Pro Tour. The Czech pair comfortably defeated Slovakia’s ninth-seeded Lubos Nemec & Adrian Petruf 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) in the semifinal, followed by a decisive 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) win against their compatriots Adam Waber & Matyas Jezek in the gold medal match.

Adam Waber & Matyas Jezek, seeded 11th, secured their second Beach Pro Tour podium finish by repeating their silver medal performance from last year`s Brno Futures. They earned their spot in the final with a hard-fought 2-1 (25-23, 18-21, 15-12) semifinal victory over Switzerland’s Florian Breer & Luc Fluckiger.

The Swiss team of Breer & Fluckiger claimed their second Beach Pro Tour medal together by winning a tight 2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 15-13) bronze medal match against Nemec & Petruf.

The Brno Futures tournament saw participation from 28 women’s and 28 men’s duos, representing 21 different federations, highlighting the international appeal of the event.

The Beach Pro Tour continues with upcoming Futures events scheduled in Budapest, Hungary, and Warsaw, Poland, from September 4 to 7.
