Eczacibasi Sports Club, a leading force in Turkish women`s Volleyball, recently inaugurated its new, architecturally modern sports arena in Kartal, designed to international standards. The opening ceremony saw the presence of prominent figures including Istanbul Deputy Governor Ünal Kılıçarslan, Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, Kartal Mayor Gökhan Yüksel, alongside numerous other high-ranking volleyball officials and esteemed club legends. The event featured special segments that beautifully linked the club`s rich history with its promising future.
Marking a New Chapter in Six Decades of Excellence
Since its inception in 1966, Eczacibasi Sports Club has been instrumental in shaping Turkish women`s Volleyball. The inauguration of the Kartal Sports Hall signifies a new era, marking the club`s third significant infrastructure investment, following its earlier facilities in Levent (1973) and Ayazağa (2001). During the ceremony, former club captains Aylin Üstündağ, Özlem Özçelik, and Simge Aköz, representing different periods of the club`s growth, joined young athletes on stage. Together, they showcased the enduring legacy of Eczacibasi Volleyball, emphasizing its continuity across generations.
In his address, Club President Faruk Eczacibasi underscored that women`s Volleyball has evolved beyond a mere sport, becoming a significant cultural movement.
A Modern Venue with 4,000 Seats
Constructed in just 15 months, the impressive hall spans a total area of 25,000 m², featuring a dedicated sports area of 7,820 m² and seating for 4,000 spectators. Designed to meet both FIVB and CEV international standards, the facility includes a main court, three additional training halls, residential spaces for young athletes, as well as state-of-the-art fitness and physiotherapy zones. Equipped with a high-definition cube screen, contemporary seating, and an integrated museum, the new venue is conceived as both a premier sports complex and a vibrant cultural center.
Starting from the 2025-2026 season, Eczacibasi Sports Club will host all its national league and European competitions at the newly opened Kartal Sports Hall. Furthermore, this facility is designated to be a dedicated hub for nurturing young talent.
