Overview of EuroBeachVolley 2025
The annual European beach volleyball festival is set to begin shortly. Next week, from Wednesday to Sunday, the continent`s top teams will gather in Düsseldorf, Germany, to compete in the 33rd edition of the EuroBeachVolley.

This event, returning to Germany for the fourth time and hosted in a fourth different city within the tournament`s most successful nation to date, will take place at the well-known Rochus Club. It is expected to be one of the most competitive editions in recent years, with all top teams from across the continent having confirmed their participation.
The 32 men`s teams have been divided into eight pools of four, and each team will play twice under a modified pool play system. The eight pool winners will advance directly to the Round of 16, while the 16 teams finishing second and third will first compete in the Round of 24.
For the men, pool play will take place from Wednesday to Thursday, alongside the Round of 24 matches. The Round of 16 will follow on Friday, the quarterfinals on Saturday, with the semifinals and medal matches concluding the tournament on Sunday.
The upcoming week in Düsseldorf promises to be an exciting one, filled with elite-level beach volleyball. As the first serve approaches, let`s continue our review of the eight pools in each gender, focusing this time on Men`s Pools E, F, G, and H.
Men`s Pool Previews
Pool E Analysis

Teams: Ondřej Perušič/David Schweiner (Czechia), Christoph Dressler/Philipp Waller (Austria), Marco Krattiger/Leo Dillier (Switzerland), and Momme Lorenz/Tilo Rietschel (Germany).
World champions Perušič and Schweiner are the clear favorites in this pool and are highly likely to advance directly to the Round of 16. The Czech athletes have shown excellent form this summer, securing three medals in five Beach Pro Tour events, reaffirming their status as one of the world`s top teams.
Krattiger and Dillier, a new team formed in 2025, have also performed well in their initial months as partners, arriving in Düsseldorf with four medals earned at the Challenge and Futures levels of the Beach Pro Tour. Dressler and Waller, who also teamed up this season, haven`t achieved the same level of success as the Swiss but have competed at this level for a long time and could deliver strong performances this week in Germany. The 21-year-old Lorenz and Rietschel have been competitive at the Beach Pro Tour Futures level and will have the opportunity next week to test themselves against stronger opponents.
Assuming no surprises, the Czech team is expected to finish first, with the Swiss and Austrians securing the other two spots in the knockout rounds. However, one should never underestimate a young home team playing without pressure.
Pool F Analysis

Teams: Javier Bello/Joaquin Bello (England), Stefan Boermans/Yorick de Groot (the Netherlands), Yves Haussener/Julian Friedli (Switzerland), and Clemens Wickler/Nils Ehlers (Germany).
If every tournament features a “group of death,” then in Düsseldorf, that`s undeniably Pool F, as at least three of its four teams are strong contenders for medals on Sunday. The Bello twins haven`t played much in 2025 but had a remarkable 2024 season, winning gold at a Beach Pro Tour Elite event in Brazil, and could revert to that form at any time.
Boermans and de Groot earned silver at EuroBeachVolley in 2021 (with de Groot repeating the feat in 2023) and have been among the continent`s top teams for years. The same holds true for Ehlers and Wickler, who had the best season of their careers in 2024, securing silver at both the Paris Olympics and the EuroBeachVolley, and will enjoy strong home crowd support this week. Haussener and Friedli have achieved good results internationally during their two years as partners but will need to perform exceptionally well to have a chance of advancing.
The Swiss team will be the dark horses in a pool where anything can happen between the English, Dutch, and Germans. The opening match duel between Bello/Bello and Ehlers/Wickler could significantly impact the final standings in the pool.
Pool G Analysis

Teams: Michal Bryl/Bartosz Łosiak (Poland), Jacob Hölting Nilsson/Elmer Andersson (Sweden), Lukas Pfretzschner/Sven Winter (Germany), and Eylon Elazar/Kevin Cuzmiciov (Israel).
Bryl and Łosiak are the most experienced team in this pool and are most likely to finish in first place. While the Polish duo has yet to win gold in 2025, they have maintained consistent high performance at the international level and possess all the necessary skills to control their pool play.
However, both the Swedes and Germans could prove to be tough opponents. The reigning U22 European champions, Hölting Nilsson and Andersson, are a rising force on the international scene, having started to deliver results this year, including a silver medal at the Elite event in Gstaad. Pfretzschner and Winter were excellent in 2024 but have experienced a slight dip in form this season; nevertheless, they can compete with anyone, especially on their home sand. Elazar and Cuzmiciov have contributed to the advancement of Israeli beach volleyball on the international stage, securing multiple medals at Beach Pro Tour Futures events over the past two years, though they are likely still a tier below their pool opponents.
It would be surprising if Bryl and Łosiak don`t advance in first place, but both Hölting Nilsson/Andersson and Pfretzschner/Winter possess the capability to defeat them on a good day. Elazar and Cuzmiciov have very limited chances of progressing but will be ready to cause an upset should the opportunity arise.
Pool H Analysis

Teams: Paul Henning/Lui Wüst (Germany), Timo Hammarberg/Tim Berger (Austria), Gianluca Dal Corso/Marco Viscovich (Italy), and Adrián Gavira/Alejandro Huerta (Spain).
Pool H is likely the most unpredictable in the entire tournament, as any team could realistically finish anywhere from first to fourth. Top seeds Henning and Wüst will have the home crowd`s support and have delivered the best results on the Beach Pro Tour, making them slight favorites to secure first place.
The young Austrians, Hammarberg and Berger, who were U20 European champions in 2022, have shown consistent progress at the international level over the past two seasons. Dal Corso and Viscovich will reunite after enjoying some success as partners at the Futures level in 2023 and 2024, and they will fight hard for a spot in the next round. Gavira`s extensive experience could be an advantage for the Spanish duo, but they will need to overcome his long period of inactivity in their first tournament together to make an impact.
The Spanish team starts slightly behind the others due to their very limited time together on the court, but that could all change with a victory in their opening match. The Germans appear best positioned to lead the pool, but the young and audacious Austrians and Italians will also aim for the top.
