Belgium`s Ferre Reggers has claimed the title of best scorer in the preliminary rounds of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men`s World Championship in the Philippines. He is joined by other statistical frontrunners including Bulgaria`s Aleksandar Nikolov, Finland`s Petteri Tyynismaa and Luka Marttila, Netherlands` Michiel Ahyi, Argentina`s Luciano De Cecco, and Belgium`s Gorik Lantsoght.

The 22-year-old Belgian opposite, Ferre Reggers, dominated the individual scoring charts during the pool stage, accumulating an impressive 73 points across three matches. His scoring spree included 23 points against Ukraine, a phenomenal 31 against Italy, and 19 against Algeria. Reggers narrowly surpassed 21-year-old Bulgarian outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov by just two points, while Filipino outside Bryan Bagunas secured third place with 70 points.
In the best attackers ranking, Aleksandar Nikolov slightly edged out Reggers, racking up 63 spike kills. Reggers followed closely with 62, and Bagunas with 61, highlighting a competitive field of offensive talents.
Defensively, another young Belgian, 19-year-old libero Gorik Lantsoght, led the best diggers chart with 33 digs. He finished one dig ahead of France`s renowned libero Jenia Grebennikov, with Turkey’s Berkay Bayraktar completing the top three with 27 digs.
Finland also boasted two players among the statistical leaders. 22-year-old outside hitter Luka Marttila topped the best receivers ranking with 27 successful receptions, one more than Argentina`s Luciano Palonsky and two more than Portugal`s Ivo Casas.
Fellow Finnish talent, 22-year-old middle blocker Petteri Tyynismaa, stood out as the leading blocker, recording a total of 12 stuffs. Slovenia’s Jan Kozamernik was second with 11 blocks, and Argentina’s opposite Pablo Kukartsev secured third with 10 kill blocks.
From the serving line, Michiel Ahyi, the Netherlands` key opposite, demonstrated exceptional prowess, delivering a total of 12 aces to lead the best servers chart. Turkey`s outside hitter Efe Mandiraci was second with 10 aces, while Canadian middle Fynnian McCarthy and 21-year-old Iranian outside Poriya Khanzadeh shared a close third place with nine direct serving points each.
Argentina`s veteran playmaker Luciano De Cecco showcased his mastery, topping the best setters ranking with an impressive 137 successful sets over three matches. He was followed by 22-year-old Iranian Arshia Behnezhad with 126 sets and Brazil’s Fernando Kreling with 115.
As the tournament progresses, players from the teams that advanced to the elimination phase will have the opportunity to further improve their statistics. The highly anticipated eighthfinal round is scheduled to take place over the next four days, from Saturday, September 20, to Tuesday, September 23, with two exciting matches daily.
