In June 2025, the FIVB successfully conducted 18 coaching courses, extending its reach to 14 countries spanning all five continental confederations: NORCECA, CAVB, CSV, CEV, and AVC. The comprehensive curriculum included various levels of volleyball coaching (Levels I, II, and III) as well as specialized beach volleyball courses. These initiatives were meticulously planned with national federations, and a significant number received additional backing from Olympic Solidarity.
Throughout the month-long program, participants engaged in a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on court sessions. These were designed to enhance their knowledge and strengthen essential coaching abilities. Expert instructors, appointed by the FIVB, led discussions on crucial subjects such as technical skill development, understanding game strategies, and optimizing athlete readiness.
Many of these training programs saw full enrollment, with a notable number of women coaches actively participating. The varied locations and learning settings underscored the increasing global need for structured coaching education across all tiers of the sport.
Beach Volleyball in St. Kitts & Nevis
From June 2-6, 2025, Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis, hosted an FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course, supported by Olympic Solidarity. Held at the St. Kitts & Nevis NOC Headquarters, the course attracted 26 participants, including nine women, and was led by instructor Rick Bevis. The diverse group comprised individuals with varied experience levels in beach volleyball. Coinciding with an athlete training camp and the ECVA Championships, the course provided an excellent opportunity for coaches to further their skills and apply their knowledge in a dynamic, competitive setting.
Level II Volleyball in Côte d’Ivoire
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, was the venue for an FIVB Level II Volleyball Coaches Course from June 4-8, 2025, at the Palais des Sports. Taught in French by instructor Samir Assam, the program saw 34 active participants, including seven women. Assam commended the candidates` high skill level, enthusiasm, and dedication. He also highlighted the group`s active contributions and positive reception to the teaching style, fostering an excellent learning atmosphere throughout the five-day event.
Level III Volleyball in Quito, Ecuador
From June 4-11, 2025, Quito, Ecuador, hosted an Olympic Solidarity-supported FIVB Level III Volleyball Coaches Course. This Spanish-language program, led by FIVB instructors Luis Muchaga and Francisco Hervas, brought together 32 coaches at the Concentra Deportiva de Pichincha. Organized in strong collaboration with the Ecuadorian Volleyball Federation, participants remained highly focused throughout the week-long intensive sessions. The event utilized the venue`s facilities effectively, and organizers ensured seamless execution, fostering a highly productive and well-supported educational experience.
Level I Volleyball in Gambia
Attention then turned to Africa, specifically Gambia, where an Olympic Solidarity-backed FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course ran from June 9-13, 2025. Over 24 participants from various parts of the country, many already involved in local coaching, attended the course led by FIVB instructor Appie Krijnsen and supported by the Gambia Volleyball Federation. This five-day program in Banjul significantly bolstered grassroots volleyball initiatives and aligned with the nation`s goals of enhancing the sport`s development and quality.
Level I Volleyball in Bekescsaba, Hungary
Hungary commenced its June coaching schedule with an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course in Bekescsaba, held from June 9-13, 2025. Fifteen participants attended this program, guided by FIVB instructor Laszlo Hollosy and strongly supported by the Hungarian Volleyball Federation. The sessions focused on reinforcing fundamental coaching skills and improving understanding of game strategies and instructional techniques. The smooth execution of the course was largely attributed to the organizing team`s meticulous planning and dedication to providing an excellent educational experience.
Level II Volleyball in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in East Africa, hosted an Olympic Solidarity-sponsored FIVB Level II Volleyball Coaches Course from June 10-14, 2025. Instructed by FIVB`s Thulan Maphosa, the course attracted 44 participants, notably including 12 women coaches, demonstrating increasing female engagement in the field. With the backing of the Ethiopian Volleyball Federation, this program significantly contributed to bolstering national coaching expertise through specialized technical instruction.

Misrata, Libya, hosted an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course from June 10-14, 2025. This French-language course, led by FIVB instructor Mostafa Ahchouche, welcomed 40 participants. Banjul, Gambia, hosted its second FIVB course of the month: a Beach Volleyball Coaches Course from June 14-18, supported by Olympic Solidarity. Building on June’s intensive coaching schedule, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, conducted an FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course from June 15-19. Taught in English by FIVB instructor Charles Thilakarathne, the course attracted 34 participants keen to enhance their understanding of the technical, tactical, and physical aspects of beach volleyball. Five women were among the attendees, underscoring Saudi Arabia`s commitment to expanding opportunities for all genders in the sport. Concurrently with the Saudi Arabian course, Gaborone, Botswana, hosted an FIVB Level II Coaches Course from June 16-20. North Africa featured prominently in June’s coaching schedule, starting with an FIVB Level I Coaches Course in Tunis from June 16-20. Led in French by instructor Achraf Ben Salem, the course involved 44 participants, including 14 women coaches, all focused on mastering core coaching principles through combined theoretical and practical modules. The Tunisian Volleyball Federation provided excellent support, ensuring the course was well-organized and highly interactive. This event marked Ben Salem’s debut as an FIVB instructor, conducted under the supervision of the national technical director and staff. Positive feedback across all teaching aspects affirmed its success.

Concurrently, another FIVB Level I Coaches Course took place in Tunis from June 16-20, led by instructor Ghezal Chaker. Cairo, Egypt, also hosted an FIVB Level I Coaches Course from June 17-21. Led by FIVB instructor Sherif Altanahi, the program involved 34 participants, who delved into a range of practical sessions and theoretical lectures covering contemporary volleyball coaching fundamentals. Furthermore, Altanahi invited specialists in areas like physical fitness and rehabilitation, significantly enriching the technical scope of the learning experience.

Tunisia concluded its June coaching programs with an FIVB Level II Volleyball Coaches Course in Tunis, held from June 21-25. Taught in French by FIVB instructor Kamel Rekaya, the course attracted 38 participants, including seven women coaches. Podgorica, Montenegro, was the site of an English-language FIVB Level III Volleyball Coaches Course from June 22-29. This Olympic Solidarity-supported event brought together 20 coaches from various nations for an in-depth exploration of high-performance coaching methodologies, led by FIVB instructors Gustavo Meczyk and Cengiz Akarcesme. Organized in strong partnership with the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro and supported by the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, the course covered advanced Level III topics like scouting, performance optimization, and sophisticated team strategies. All sessions were conveniently held at a single venue, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition between theoretical learning and practical court application.

Within the NORCECA zone, San José, Costa Rica, hosted an FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course from June 25-29, 2025. Conducted in Spanish by FIVB Instructor Mauro Hernandez, the program provided 17 participants with structured training in beach volleyball`s technical fundamentals, tactical systems, and coaching methodologies.
