In July 2025, the FIVB significantly furthered its coaching education initiatives by conducting 13 diverse Coaches Courses across 13 different venues globally. These comprehensive programs, encompassing FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, Level II Volleyball, and Beach Volleyball, delivered essential practical and theoretical instruction to coaches spanning Asia, Africa, Europe, and both North and South America.
Cambodia: Phnom Penh
From July 1-5, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, was home to an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, graciously supported by Olympic Solidarity. Held at the National Sports Complex, the course saw Instructor Dusan Jarotta guide 44 participants through English-language sessions. The curriculum focused on foundational technical instruction and effective practice management. Notably, 13 women were among the attendees, underscoring the increasing engagement of women in coaching within Cambodia. Participants particularly lauded the balanced blend of classroom theory and practical on-court exercises, which fostered collaborative learning.
Belize City, Belize
The Ned Pitts Olympic House in Belize City hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball from July 2-6. Under the guidance of Instructor John Kessel, 37 participants, including a significant cohort of 12 women, took part in English-language sessions. Coaches actively participated in a curriculum that skillfully combined practical drills with comprehensive teaching methodologies. The strong presence of women emphasized the expanding inclusivity and diversity within volleyball leadership across this Caribbean country.
Hong Kong, China
From July 7-11, the Christian Alliance International School in Hong Kong, China, welcomed an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, also sponsored by Olympic Solidarity. Christian Kröger instructed 20 participants in English, with the intimate group size facilitating highly interactive sessions. Six women were among the attendees, and the course provided coaches with opportunities to practice detailed planning exercises. The venue’s integrated classroom and training spaces ensured an efficient and engaging schedule.
Santiago, Chile
Santiago de Chile simultaneously hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, conducted in Spanish from July 7-11. Instructor Eduardo Bellmann led 23 participants, comprising coaches from various schools and local clubs. The program actively encouraged critical reflection and discussion concerning community-level volleyball development. Participants gained new strategies to bolster grassroots initiatives within the Chilean capital.
Dodoma, Tanzania
At Chinangali Park in Dodoma, Tanzania, an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball took place from July 8-12. Constant Tchouassi instructed 38 participants in English, delivering a well-rounded program of theoretical knowledge and practical court-based exercises. The group’s palpable enthusiasm was evident as coaches enthusiastically experimented with novel teaching methods. For many participants transitioning from playing careers to formal coaching roles, the course proved instrumental in broadening their expertise.
Cuenca, Ecuador
Cuenca, Ecuador, was the site of an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, sponsored by Olympic Solidarity, from July 9-13. Argelio Pascual Hernández Rodriguez instructed 34 coaches in Spanish, including seven women. The course’s primary objective was to establish solid foundational coaching principles. Participants highly valued the emphasis on systematic skill progression and practical applications specifically tailored for youth training environments.
Tianjin, China
In China, Tianjin University of Sport hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball, in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity, from July 11-15. Instructor Dejan Vulicevic worked with a full contingent of 45 participants, among whom seven were women. This advanced program delved into tactical systems, performance analysis, and athlete management. The university’s excellent facilities allowed coaches to directly apply theoretical concepts in high-quality court sessions.
Guatemala City, Guatemala
Guatemala City’s Gimnasio Alfonso Gordillo hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball, with support from Olympic Solidarity, from July 14-18. Instructor Ruben Sainz Rodriguez guided 44 coaches, including 14 women, through Spanish-language sessions. The substantial participation of women underscored the inclusive expansion of coaching opportunities in the region. Attendees particularly valued the systematic approach to lesson planning and the chance to exchange insights with peers from various provinces.
Ramallah, Palestine
Palestine hosted an Olympic Solidarity-sponsored FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball in Ramallah from July 15-19. Instructor Rani Asfour guided 32 coaches in English, covering fundamental methods for teaching and managing training sessions. The program attracted nine women, reflecting expanded opportunities for female coaches in the region. Participants responded favorably to the balanced approach of group discussions and practical on-court experimentation.
Dublin, Ireland
Maynooth University in Dublin, Ireland, staged an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball from July 16-20. Gordon Mayforth instructed 29 participants in English, providing a thorough overview of beginner and intermediate training methodologies. The academic setting fostered analytical discussion, and coaches collaborated closely on designing drills and refining their team management approaches.
Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic
In the Dominican Republic, Hato Mayor hosted an FIVB Coaches Course Beach Volleyball, in collaboration with the FIVB Development Center, from July 21-25 at Rancho Doña Callita. Instructor Mauro Hernandez led participants in Spanish-language sessions that effectively combined classroom theory with practical sand-court training. The small group size facilitated focused attention on individual coaching styles. The course proved instrumental in helping participants adapt to the unique demands of beach volleyball preparation.
Malé, Maldives
Maldives concluded July’s activities with an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball in Malé from July 27-31. Instructor G.E. Sridharan guided a full class of 45 participants, including eight women, in English. The Social Centre venue created a vibrant atmosphere, with coaches engaging in practical exercises that promoted teamwork. Many left equipped with fresh tools to reinforce grassroots volleyball development across the islands.
Riga, Latvia
Finally, Riga, Latvia, welcomed an FIVB Coaches Course Level II Volleyball from July 29 to August 2 at the Riga Volleyball School. Instructor Paolo Montagnani worked with 27 participants in English, including seven women. The advanced sessions emphasized systems of play and in-depth tactical analysis. Coaches appreciated the structured approach, which significantly supported their development as leaders in both training and competitive environments.
