This week, the FIVB welcomed Marc Olivier Anatole, President of the French Guyana National Federation (a Regional Member of the FIVB), to the Volleyball House located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Discussions during the meeting primarily focused on the Volleyball Empowerment program and exploring future collaboration opportunities.
Representing the FIVB were President Fabio Azevedo, General Sports Director Steve Tutton, Head of Empowerment and NF Relations Hitesh Malhotra, and Head of Development and Sustainability Paulo Barone.
A central theme of the discussion was the Volleyball Empowerment program. To date, the French Guyana National Federation has received USD 130,000 in support across eight distinct projects. These projects have covered various areas, including providing volleyball equipment, facilitating knowledge transfer, and offering coach support. An ongoing significant project involves providing 12 months of coach support to the French Guyana national volleyball team with French coach Baptiste Barberon; this support has been approved for a total of two years. The meeting served to review the impact of these initiatives and consider potential projects for the future.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo also used the opportunity to present the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032. Described as an ambitious yet achievable roadmap, the vision outlines plans to elevate volleyball globally, built upon four core pillars: professionalism, integration, empowerment, and mass participation.
