Italy’s Valentina Gottardi & Reka Orsi Toth celebrate their victory in Hamburg.

Italian duo Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth have achieved a new career high, climbing to the number three spot in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking. This remarkable rise follows their recent triumph at the Hamburg Elite women’s tournament on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, marking their highest-ever position as a team formed after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking – Women

Previously ranked seventh, Gottardi and Orsi Toth’s gold medal performance in Germany earned them a substantial 1,200 ranking points. After accounting for their previous lowest score, they added 1,008 net points, bringing their total to 6,060. This impressive surge propelled them four places up the standings, now sharing the third position with Latvia’s formidable pair, Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova.

Former world number one team, Tina and Anastasija, secured a quarterfinal finish in Hamburg, adding 720 net points to their tally, also reaching 6,060 points. They are now just 220 points shy of the second-ranked Brazilian team, Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti. Meanwhile, Hamburg`s silver medalists, Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes of Brazil, further solidified their dominance. Their score increased by 500 points, bringing their total to 7,980, maintaining their top position in the World Ranking for an impressive 15 consecutive weeks since May 26. This widened their lead over compatriots Carol and Rebecca, who, despite being eliminated by Thamela and Victoria in the Hamburg quarterfinals, still gained 300 World Ranking points. Thamela and Victoria now boast a significant 1,700-point advantage at the summit of the rankings.

Another Brazilian powerhouse, Olympic champions and former World Ranking leaders Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda), demonstrated a strong comeback. After securing a podium finish in Germany last week, they leaped from number 33 to number 14, accumulating 4,360 points from only five qualifying tournaments. Germany’s Svenja Muller and Cinja Tillmann, also former world number ones, moved up three places to number five after finishing fourth on home soil in Hamburg. Completing the women`s top 10 are Austria’s Dorina Klinger and Ronja Klinger, Switzerland’s Anouk Verge-Depre and Zoe Verge-Depre, American duos Terese Cannon & Megan Kraft and Kristen Nuss & Taryn Brasher, and France’s Clemence Vieira & Aline Chamereau.

FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking – Men

The gap at the top of the men’s World Ranking has expanded significantly, growing from 1,000 to 1,360 points. Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, the reigning European champions and world number one team, clinched victory in Hamburg, extending their reign at the top for a 20th consecutive week. Their closest rivals, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, the reigning Olympic champions, were surprisingly eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Polish silver medalists from Hamburg, Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak, made notable gains, climbing three spots to number six. The Netherlands’ Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot, who earned bronze, re-entered the top 10 at number eight after a five-position leap. Despite a prestigious fourth-place finish in Germany, Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots saw a two-spot drop to number 10, surpassed by the rising Polish and Dutch teams.

Czechia’s reigning world champions, Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner, secured a ninth-place finish in Hamburg, which translated into a full 600 points, propelling them from seventh to fifth in the standings. Within the remainder of the top-10, Argentina’s Nicolas Capogrosso and Tomas Capogrosso held firm at third, as did Sweden’s Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson at fourth. Conversely, Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan slipped from fifth to seventh, and Brazil’s Evandro Oliveira and Arthur Mariano Lanci dropped from sixth to ninth.
