Helena Cazaute Exits World Championship Leading Three Individual Categories

France, the Netherlands, and Brazil have showcased their statistical prowess, dominating the individual rankings at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women`s World Championship.

France concluded its journey at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Thailand with undeniable distinction, a fact underscored by the individual statistical rankings compiled after the quarterfinal stage. French players lead in four of the seven available charts, with their inspiring captain, Helena Cazaute, single-handedly topping three of these categories. She currently holds the titles of best scorer, best attacker, and best receiver of the World Championship. Her teammate, Iman Ndiaye, shares the top position in the best servers ranking with Poland’s Martyna Czyrnianska. The Netherlands, despite their quarterfinal exit, also made a significant mark, boasting two players among the statistical leaders: Sarah van Aalen as the best setter and Florien Reesink as the best digger. Brazilian middle blockers Julia Kudiess and Diana Alecrim are jointly recognized as the best blockers.

Cazaute`s Stellar Performance Across Categories

Helena Cazaute commands a substantial 10-point lead in the best scorers` individual ranking. Over five matches, she accumulated an impressive total of 109 points, which included five aces and eight kill blocks. Cazaute consistently delivered, scoring 20 or more points in every match France played throughout the World Championship, peaking with an individual match high of 25 points against Greece in their pool fixture. Following her closely in the scoring charts is Mayu Ishikawa, Japan’s outside hitter and captain, who has amassed 99 points. With Japan still in the tournament, Ishikawa remains the player most likely to challenge for the overall best scorer title. Italy’s formidable opposite, Paola Egonu, with 96 points, is also a strong contender for the top spot. Turkey’s Melissa Vargas, another high-scoring talent, sits in sixth place with 91 points, just four points behind Isabelle Haak of Sweden and France’s Iman Ndiaye, who are tied for fourth.

Cazaute’s exceptional attacking skills are highlighted by her leadership in the best attackers` chart, recording 96 successful spike kills. Ishikawa again holds the second position with 88 kills, followed by Haak with 85 and Vargas with 80. Furthermore, the French outside hitter also heads the best receivers ranking, registering an impressive 64 successful receptions. Mayu Ishikawa once more secures the second spot in this category with 56 successful receptions, with Brazilian outside hitters Gabriela Guimaraes (Gabi) with 48 and Julia Bergmann with 46 close behind.

Leaders in Serving, Blocking, Setting, and Digging

In the best servers ranking, Mayu Ishikawa, despite not leading overall, is the highest-ranked player still in contention, having served six aces. France’s opposite Iman Ndiaye and Poland’s 21-year-old outside hitter Martyna Czyrnianska currently share the top position, each with 10 aces. Aleksandra Uzelac, Serbia’s 21-year-old outside hitter, is next with eight serving points. For blocking, two Brazilian middle blockers, Diana Alecrim and 22-year-old Julia Kudiess, are tied for first place with 18 stuffs each. Eline Timmerman, a middle blocker from the Netherlands, completes the top three with 16 kill blocks.

Dutch playmaker Sarah van Aalen has distinguished herself as the World Championship`s leading setter, accumulating an impressive 229 successful sets across five matches. Japan’s Nanami Seki is the runner-up with 182 sets, while Thailand’s Pornpun Guedpard holds third place with 150. Finally, Florien Reesink, the libero for the Netherlands, leads the best diggers chart with 69 digs, five more than French libero Juliette Gelin, who is in second place. Poland’s Aleksandra Szczyglowska secures third with 63 digs. Mayu Ishikawa, currently fifth with 59 digs, is the active player with the strongest prospects of climbing to the top of this ranking. Italian libero Monica De Gennaro is also a significant candidate, positioned sixth with 56 digs.
