High-Level Meetings Pave Way for Historic Volleyball World Championship in Philippines

As preparations intensify for the Philippines` significant role as host of the FIVB Volleyball Men`s World Championship in 2025, FIVB President Fabio Azevedo recently engaged in a series of high-profile discussions. These meetings brought together senior government officials, leaders from sports authorities, and key stakeholders.

These discussions underscore the FIVB`s commitment to close collaboration with its local partners. The aim is to ensure that the inaugural Men`s World Championship hosted in the Philippines is a world-class event that creates a lasting positive impact.

President Azevedo, accompanied by Ramon Suzara, President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation, and Guido Betti, Volleyball World Chief Business Officer, held talks with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. Their agenda included the broader national sports strategy and ongoing initiatives to support the advancement of volleyball within the Philippines.

The delegation also met with Patrick Gregorio, Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Senator Pia Cayetano, and Atty Guillermo Iroy, PSC Executive Director. Among the topics discussed was exploring the potential legacy outcomes of hosting the FIVB Volleyball Men`s World Championship.

In addition, the FIVB group visited the Nuvali Sand Courts. This venue has a history of hosting international beach volleyball events, including Challenge and Futures stops on the Beach Pro Tour. During the visit, they connected with the Philippine national beach volleyball teams, who receive targeted support through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme. Discussions were also held regarding the potential transformation of the venue into an FIVB Centre of Excellence, aligning with the objectives of the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032.
