Innovative Format Shapes Czech Beach Volleyball Qualifiers for European Cup 2025

The Czech Volleyball Federation recently hosted a domestic beach volleyball club competition, which also served as a qualifier for the 2025 CEV Beach Volley European Cup. This year`s event featured an innovative format that integrated clubs` previous years` results to determine their seeding and progression through the various rounds.

The tournament began with a round-robin phase where clubs battled in a best-of-five format, incorporating men`s, women`s, and mixed teams. Successful clubs then advanced to the semi-finals, culminating in gold and bronze medal matches. The semi-final pairings included a rematch of last year`s clash between BVŠP A and BC Strahov, alongside a contest between BK Pankrác and BK Ládví. Notably, three of the crucial semi-final and medal matches were ultimately decided by thrilling mixed-gender team duels.

For the bronze medal, BK Ládví triumphed over BC Strahov, securing two victories from their women`s teams and a decisive third win from the men`s duo Hladík/Jachnicki, leaving Strahov in fourth. The highly anticipated grand finale also came down to a thrilling mixed-team showdown. Honzovičová and Mikulenka from Beachclub Prague Sports Club clinched the title by defeating the formidable, previously unbeaten pair Lorenzová and Semerád. This meant Beachclub Prague Pankrác claimed the championship, while Beach Volleyball School Prague A (BVŠP A) finished as runner-up.

The qualification process for the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025 was unique: the Czech Volleyball Federation allocated spots based on the highest number of wins achieved across all gender categories during the weekend`s matches. Beachclub Prague Pankrác`s women`s team delivered an undefeated performance, earning their direct entry into the European Cup. Although Beachclub Strahov excelled in the men`s matches, they had already secured their spot by winning the MEVZA zonal qualifier in Bratislava earlier this year. Consequently, BK Ládví will also represent Czechia in the men’s preliminary phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup.

`Winners

The organizers expressed their sincere thanks to ČEZ GROUP, the main partner of Czech Beach Volleyball, for their invaluable support in delivering the ČEZ Czech Club Championships 2025. They also acknowledged the outstanding contributions of the referees, enthusiastic fans, and spectators, and especially praised the players for their exceptional performances and fierce competitive spirit.
