Futures in Europe

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour 2025 season continues its busy schedule in Europe. For the third consecutive week, three Futures events will be held simultaneously across the continent from Thursday to Sunday, offering a total of 15 medals.

Double-gender tournaments are set for Ios, Greece, and Messina, Italy. Meanwhile, men`s teams will compete in Geneva, Switzerland. In total, 118 teams are expected to participate across the three locations.

Beach Pro Tour Ios Futures – Men

At Ios` stunning Mylopotas Beach, the men`s tournament features 24 teams representing 18 countries. Participating nations include Greece (4), Latvia (3), Austria (2), Argentina, Australia, Belgium, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, New Zealand, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

The men`s field includes two Olympians. Polish blocker Piotr Kantor, who competed in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo Games, partners with Filip Lejawa. Austrians Robin Seidl and Alexander Huber, teammates in Rio nine years ago, have reunited for the 2025 season.

Beach Pro Tour Ios Futures – Women

The women`s competition in Ios comprises 22 duos from 13 different nations. The United States has the largest contingent with five teams, followed by host nation Greece (4), Canada (2), Japan (2), Australia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

Favorites for the title in the Greek event include Lithuanians Ieva Dumbauskaite and Gerda Grudzinskaite, who have already won medals in two Futures events this season, and Ukrainian twins Inna and Iryna Makhno, who secured gold last week in Kraków.

Italian Olympians Compete at Home in Messina

The tournament in Messina follows closely after the city hosted a pool in the CEV Beach Nations Cup. As a result, Italy`s top two men`s duos will remain in Messina to compete for a few more days at the Piazza Duomo.

Paris Olympian, left-handed defender Samuele Cottafava, will play alongside Gianluca Dal Corso. Blocker Enrico Rossi, who competed in Tokyo 2020, is paired with Marco Viscovich.

Beach Pro Tour Messina Futures – Men

The men’s tournament in Messina features 26 teams from 13 countries. Hosts Italy field nine tandems, Germany three, while Czechia, Latvia, and Slovenia each send two. Argentina, Australia, Cameroon, Denmark, England, Estonia, the Netherlands, and Switzerland are represented by one duo each.

For the women`s event in Messina, 24 teams will compete for the title, representing ten countries. Czechia (5), Italy (4), the Netherlands (4), the United States (3), Germany (2), and Switzerland (2) have multiple entries, while Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, and Spain each feature one duo.

Estonians Liisa Remmelg and Heleene Hollas are the top-seeded team in the event, with Czech twins Katerina and Anna Pavelková seeded second.

Home Teams Look Strong in Geneva

The men`s tournament in Geneva could see strong performances from the home teams, as the four best-seeded duos competing at La Rotonde du Mont-Blanc this week are from Switzerland: Yves Haussener/Julian Friedli, Marco Krattiger/Leo Dillier, Adrian Heidrich/Jonathan Jordan, and Florian Breer/Luc Flückiger.

The entry list for Geneva contains 28 teams from 15 countries. Hosts Switzerland have the largest representation with six duos, followed by Germany and Italy with three each. Czechia, France, Norway, and Slovenia each send two teams, and Belgium, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Ukraine, and the United States are represented by one duo apiece.

Beach Pro Tour Geneva Futures – Men

All three tournaments will follow the same schedule: qualification matches on Thursday, pool play on Friday, elimination rounds on Saturday, and the medal matches concluding the week on Sunday.

The Beach Pro Tour Futures events in Europe are organized by the CEV in close cooperation with Volleyball World, providing European teams with valuable opportunities to compete and earn international ranking points.
