Kazakhstan has won the gold medal at the CAVA Girls’ U16 Volleyball Championship. The tournament took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and featured four participating teams. Uzbekistan claimed the silver medal, while Kyrgyzstan earned the bronze.
The Kazakh team showed complete dominance throughout the competition, concluding their campaign without losing a single set in any of their five matches. They secured the top spot after winning all three of their games in the initial round-robin league stage. Their flawless performance continued in the semifinals, where they achieved a resounding 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-15, 25-7) over the host nation, Tajikistan. In the final match for the gold medal, Kazakhstan defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-14), completing their perfect run and securing the championship title for the zone.
Uzbekistan also performed strongly, winning all their matches except for those against the champions, Kazakhstan. In their semifinal clash, Uzbekistan defeated Kyrgyzstan with a 3-1 scoreline (25-23, 25-22, 9-25, 25-22). Kyrgyzstan bounced back from this loss to win the bronze medal match convincingly, sweeping Tajikistan 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-17).
Player Awards and Dream Team
Individual accolades were also presented. Assyly Abitay, a 14-year-old outside hitter from Kazakhstan, received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and was named to the tournament`s Dream Team. The Dream Team lineup included setter Asylzat Maksutova (Kyrgyzstan), opposite Margarita Vagner (Kazakhstan), outside hitter Malika Asliddinova (Uzbekistan), middle blockers Ulyana Kokina (Kazakhstan) and Saodat Egamberdieva (Uzbekistan), and libero Asema Seiitbekova (Kyrgyzstan).
