With the LA28 Olympic Games approximately three years away, the LA28 Organising Committee has officially confirmed the competition schedule and format for both volleyball and beach volleyball. Scheduled to take place from July 14 to 30, 2028, these popular sports are expected to be key highlights of the Games program.
As previously announced, beach volleyball will be hosted at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, an official LA28 Venue City. This picturesque seaside location is set to provide a spectacular backdrop for one of the most dynamic and visually appealing Olympic events. Indoor volleyball matches will be held at the Anaheim Arena, a leading sports and entertainment venue poised to offer an excellent setting for the competition.
Beach Volleyball Tournament Schedule
The beach volleyball competition will commence with the Preliminary Rounds, running from Saturday, July 15 through Saturday, July 22. These days will feature three sessions daily for both men`s and women`s tournaments, except for Saturday, July 22, which will have two sessions. The Round of 16 matches are scheduled for Sunday, July 23 and Monday, July 24, with four sessions planned each day.
Quarter-final matches will take place on Tuesday, July 25 and Wednesday, July 26, including both afternoon and evening sessions. The semi-finals for both men and women are set for Thursday, July 27. The highly anticipated men`s and women`s gold medal matches will crown the champions on the evenings of Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29, respectively.
Indoor Volleyball Tournament Schedule
Indoor volleyball`s Preliminary Rounds are also scheduled to start on Saturday, July 15, concluding on Sunday, July 23. Each day during the preliminary stage will feature four sessions, covering both men`s and women`s matches.
The Quarter-finals for both tournaments will span Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25, across four sessions. The semi-finals, featuring the top four teams in each gender, are scheduled for Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27. The bronze and gold medal matches will be played from Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30, with the final match marking the conclusion of volleyball events at the LA28 Olympic Games.
This schedule release follows the significant success of the volleyball and beach volleyball events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The sport garnered widespread acclaim, drawing record global viewership and featuring world-class performances in memorable locations, solidifying its position as a fan favorite.
The FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) confirmed its commitment to work closely with the LA28 Organising Committee. Their collaboration aims to ensure the delivery of a truly memorable few weeks for the worldwide volleyball community.
