To amplify awareness for the upcoming 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, a significant promotional effort was rolled out this week across Metro Manila. The capital region`s public transportation network unveiled a train specially decorated with tournament branding, reaching thousands of commuters daily.
The initiative officially commenced on Tuesday with an inaugural journey on Line 2 of the Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, which connects key areas throughout the city. This uniquely wrapped train proudly displays event logos and designs both on its exterior and within its carriages, aiming to boost public visibility ahead of the competition. The championship is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 28 at two prominent venues: the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Light Rail Transit Authority on the Unique Campaign
Atty. Hernando Cabrera, Administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), remarked on the project: “Starting today, commuters will see promotional content for the FIVB Men’s World Championship both inside and outside of the trains. We have specifically designed one train with a full wrap, ensuring that when you step inside, you`ll be surrounded by promotional materials. This is a truly unique endeavor for a very special occasion.”
Volleyball Stars and Officials Join Promotional Ride
The ceremonial ride featured esteemed Filipino volleyball players, including Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo, who are ambassadors for the tournament and members of the men’s national team. They were joined by members of the beach volleyball team, led by Cherry Ann Rondina. Also present were Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Patrick Gregorio and Ramon Suzara, President of both the Philippine National Volleyball Federation and the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
Mr. Suzara took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the collaboration with LRTA, emphasizing its effectiveness in promoting this major global event. He also acknowledged the presence of the Philippine fan club of the popular K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, who are slated to perform at the opening ceremony immediately following the Philippines-Tunisia match on September 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Patrick Gregorio, who chairs the government`s Task Force for the event, shared his enthusiasm: “I am delighted to be part of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. My professional background, aside from sports, includes tourism, and I am a firm believer in sports tourism because the world’s largest tourism events are often sports events. This championship is a prime example; it is a beautiful illustration of that concept.”
Countdown to Kick-off and Fan Activation
This launch occurs 59 days before the grand opening of the 32-nation tournament, which marks a historic moment for the Philippines: its debut appearance and its first time hosting the Men’s World Championship. The promotional campaign will continue this week with “Set Na Natin ’To! An Electrifying Launch,” a full-day fan activation event scheduled for July 18 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. The main program for this event is set to begin at 18:00 local time.
