The memorandum, which aims to establish cooperation in building an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly waste management system, was signed by Minister Damjan Ćulafić and the President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), Nikola Kažić.

The associated program is funded by a legal provision requiring retailers of lightweight plastic carry bags over 50 microns thick to pay a special fee of €0.03 per bag. The revenue generated from this fee is allocated to the Environmental Protection Fund.

Minister Ćulafić commented, “By signing this memorandum, we reaffirm our commitment to establishing an effective and sustainable waste management system while also enhancing public awareness regarding the negative impacts of plastic bags. Collaborating with local communities, sports federations, businesses, and international partners, we are laying the groundwork for an environmentally responsible future for Montenegro.”

Furthermore, the agreement includes planning and executing mutually beneficial projects and developing joint initiatives aimed at improving collaboration in establishing an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly waste management system.
