National Beach Volleyball Champions Crowned Across Europe

Last week, beach volleyball courts across Europe were alight with competition as several nations hosted their final championship tour stops, crowning their 2025 national champions. From thrilling comebacks to dominant performances, the events showcased top talent across Germany, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

Germany

Berlin hosted the second of two consecutive German Beach Tour events, concluding with intense finals. In the women`s competition, top seeds Lea Kunst and Melanie Paul secured a narrow 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 21-19) victory over second-seeded Nele Barber and Melanie Gernert. Third-seeded Lisa-Sophie Kotzan & Tabea Schwarz and fourth-seeded Anna Behlen & Sarah Schulz shared third place after reaching the semifinals.

The men`s final was equally dramatic, decided by the slimmest of margins. Top-ranked Maximilian Just & Philipp Huster fought back to claim gold with a 2-1 (16-21, 21-15, 15-13) win against Robin Sowa & Jonas Reinhardt. Second-seeded Benedikt Sagstetter & Jonas Sagstetter, along with qualifiers Jannik Kuhlborn & Eric Stadie, jointly secured third place.

Italy

The Fonzies Absolute Italian Beach Volleyball Championship tour made a stop in Vasto, where Manuel Alfieri & Alex Ranghieri, seeded third, triumphed in the men`s category. They achieved a commanding 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) victory in the final against Matteo Martino & Simone Podesta. Daniele Lupo & Davide Borraccino earned the bronze medal, defeating Mauro Sacripanti & Giacomo Titta 2-0 (21-17, 21-16).

In the women`s final, the top two seeds, Chiara They & Sara Breidenbach, lived up to expectations, securing a 2-0 (21-18, 21-15) win over Alice Gradini & Federica Frasca. The bronze medal went to Jessica Bellero Piccinin & Claudia Puccinelli, who beat Sara Franzoni & Eleonora Gili 2-0 (21-19, 21-13).

Latvia

Ventspils hosted the finals of the DEPO Open Latvian Championships, where national beach volleyball champions were crowned. Anija Ozolina & Marta Ozolina, the top-seeded women`s team, secured the title with a thrilling 2-1 (17-21, 21-7, 15-11) comeback against third-seeded Varvara Brailko & Vanesa Grosberga. Paula Krieva & Aurelija Kotane took bronze, winning 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 15-10) against Deneva Sauberga & Rezija Puskundze.

For the men, top-seeded Ardis Bedritis & Arturs Rinkevics emerged as champions with an emphatic 2-0 (21-13, 21-14) victory in the final over third-seeded Olivers Bulgacs & Markuss Graudins. Karlis Jaundzeikars & Matiss Salkovskis claimed bronze, defeating Rudolfs Stankevics & Ralfs Namikis 2-0 (22-20, 21-14).

Netherlands

The iconic Scheveningen was the setting for the Eredivisie Beach national tour finals, where the Netherlands crowned its 2025 national beach volleyball champions. Top international stars Stefan Boermans & Yorick de Groot, the bracket`s top seeds, clinched the men’s title with a dominant 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) victory over third-seeded Steven van de Velde & Dirk Boehle. Ruben Penninga & Matthew Immers (second seeds) secured bronze after a hard-fought 2-1 (17-21, 23-21, 15-13) comeback win against Leon Luini & Yannick Verberne.

Women’s leaders Wies Bekhuis & Emi van Driel also met expectations, claiming the national championship title. They secured a convincing 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) victory over third-seeded Lisa Luini & Desy Poiesz in the final. Noa Sonneville & Esmee Radstake earned third place with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-18) win against Jill de Groot & Leanne van Vegten.

Poland

Poznan hosted the Orlen Beach Volley Tour finals, where Poland`s 2025 national champions were celebrated. Agnieszka Adamek & Aleksandra Gromadowska captured the women’s crown with a thrilling 2-1 (13-21, 22-20, 17-15) comeback victory over second-seeded Marta Lodej & Julia Kielak in the gold medal match. Bracket leaders Malgorzata Ciezkowska & Urszula Lunio took bronze after a dramatic 2-1 (21-19, 13-21, 15-13) win against Aleksandra Zdon & Justyna Lukaszewska.

Renowned international stars Michal Bryl & Bartosz Losiak, the top-seeded men’s team, snatched the national title with a decisive 2-0 (21-13, 21-12) sweep in the final against second-seeded Piotr Kantor & Filip Lejawa. Third-seeded Jedrzej Brozyniak & Piotr Janiak secured the bronze medal, winning 2-1 (21-18, 16-21, 15-10) against Michal Korycki & Milosz Kruk.

Slovakia

The Nike Summer Beach Tour in Slovakia included a stop in Ruzomberok. Igor Horvath & Marek Ludha topped the men’s standings, achieving a 2-0 (21-14, 21-8) victory in the final over second-seeded Marian Lukac & Matus Sima. In the third-place playoff, third-seeded Patrik Pokopec & Dominik Jancok staged a 2-1 (26-28, 21-19, 15-9) comeback win against the mixed Slovak-Czech pairing of Ivan Povraznik & Michal Borski to claim bronze.

On the women`s side, both medal matches were intense three-set battles. Czechia’s Marketa Prihodova & Beata Rockova won a hard-fought final 2-1 (21-19, 12-21, 16-14) against Ema Matasova & Ema Palkovicova. Silvia Poszmikova & Katarina Kapralova caused an upset, winning 2-1 (14-21, 21-19, 15-13) against top-seeded Eva Nemec Elekova & Andrea Bundzelova to secure their spot on the podium.

Ukraine

Kyiv recently hosted a stop on the Ukrainian National Championship Tour. Second-seeded Inna Makhno & Iryna Makhno topped the women’s podium with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) win over Raisa Rylova & Yulia Chernenko in the final. Olha Mykhailovska & Olena Kurkina secured bronze with a dominant 2-0 (21-9, 21-16) victory over Marharyta Vapniar & Mariia Shkurat.

The men’s final saw top-seeded Sergiy Popov & Ivan Likhatskyi withdraw due to injury, resulting in a silver medal for them and the tournament victory for second-seeded Ivan Datsiuk & Oleksii Bublyk. Oleksandr Kalym & Vladyslav Maksymovych earned the bronze medal after a 2-1 (12-21, 21-17, 15-13) upset against third-seeded Richard Likhatskyi & Illia Tiurin.
