National Beach Volleyball Highlights: Champions Crowned Across Europe

Bulgaria

Women`s Championship

Irena Mishonova and Desislava Nikolova were crowned Bulgarian women`s beach volleyball champions at the recent National Tour Finals in Burgas. Seeded second, they secured a decisive 2-0 (21-15, 21-9) victory over Desislava Todeva and Darina Kindova in the final. Stefani Kyoseva and Veronika Ivanova claimed the bronze medals, upsetting top-seeded Ivet Gavrailova and Eva Petrova with a 2-1 (21-13, 19-21, 15-9) win in the third-place match.

Men`s Championship

Top seeds Dimitar Kalchev and Dimitar Mehandzhiyski successfully defended their men`s national title. In a thrilling three-set final, they defeated second-seeded Zahari Zgurov and Georgi Antov with a 2-1 (21-16, 19-21, 15-11) victory. Bronze medals went to twin brothers and veteran indoor volleyball stars Georgi Bratoev and Valentin Bratoev, who secured a 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) win against Ivelin Iliev and Denislav Dimitrov in the third-place match.

Estonia

Men`s Championship

Tallinn, Estonia`s capital, hosted the 2025 Olerex Estonian Beach Volleyball Championships. Kaur Erik Kais and Jaan Rebel, who began their journey in the qualifiers, sensationally claimed the men`s national title. In a dramatic final, they upset top-seeded Mart Tiisaar and Dimitriy Korotkov with a 2-0 (21-14, 30-28) victory. Kusti Nolvak and Rasmus Meius secured third place, defeating third-seeded Siim Ennemuist and Karl Maidle 2-0 (21-19, 21-14).

Women`s Championship

Bracket leaders Heleene Hollas and Liisa Remmelg lived up to their ranking, securing the women`s title after a hard-fought 2-1 (21-16, 19-21, 15-12) victory against second-seeded Liisa-Lotta Jurgenson and Eva Liisa Kuivonen in the gold medal match. The bronze went to 17-year-old Marta-Mia Ploomipuu and Hannemai Hanimagi, who defeated Kristi Nolvak and Erle Puvi 2-0 (21-19, 21-12) in the third-place playoff.

Women`s Tour Stop

Nele Barber and Melanie Gernert claimed the women`s trophy at the first of two consecutive German Beach Tour stops in Berlin. The third-seeded pair secured a 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) victory over Anna Behlen and Sarah Schulz in the final. Top-seeded Paula Schurholz and Lea Kunst, alongside second-seeded Hanna-Marie Schieder and Karla Borger, who reached the semifinals, shared third place.

In the men`s final, a 2-1 (21-18, 18-21, 15-10) battle saw third-seeded Austrians Alexander Horst and Moritz Pristauz emerge victorious, upsetting bracket leaders Benedikt Sagstetter and Jonas Sagstetter. Third place was shared by Robin Sowa and Jonas Reinhardt, and qualifiers Cedrik Moede and Luis Henrichs.

Slovakia

Men`s Tour Stop

Top-seeded Lubos Nemec and Adrian Petruf claimed the men`s gold at the Valcianska dolina stop of Slovakia`s Nike Summer Beach Tour. They swept the final 2-0 (21-13, 21-14) against Michal Trubac and Igor Horvath. The third-place playoff was a three-set battle, ending 2-1 (18-21, 21-10, 15-9) in favor of Tomas Patuc and Peter Michalovic against Miroslav Janto and Lukas Kralovic.

The women`s bracket leaders, Eva Elekova and Andrea Bundzelova, lived up to their ranking, securing first place with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) victory over third-seeded Andrea Spevarova and Lesia Slezakova in the gold medal match. Second-seeded Zuzana Reginova and Kristina Harmanova took bronze, sweeping the third-place game 2-0 (21-14, 21-11) against the Slovak-Czech duo of Katarina Kapralova and Valentyna Hynkova.
