National Beach Volleyball Tour Highlights Across Europe

Recent national beach volleyball tours across Europe saw exciting competition in Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and Ukraine. Here`s a summary of the results from the latest stops:

Belgium

At the Belgian Beachvolley Championship stop in Vilvoorde, Jade Van Deun and Youna Coens won the women`s gold medal with a 2-0 victory (23-21, 21-13) over Lotte Pareyn and Annelore Bex in the final. Top-seeded Britt Ruysschaert and Isabel Van den Broeck secured the bronze, coming back from a set down to win 2-1 (20-22, 21-11, 15-8) against Lola Bombeke and Lente Thant. In the men`s final, top seeds Joppe Van Langendonck and Kyan Vercauteren triumphed over second seeds Louis and Gilles Vandecaveye in a three-set battle, winning 2-1 (20-22, 21-14, 15-8). Daan Hendrikx and Christophe Witvrouwen took third place with a 2-0 win (21-18, 21-13) against Seppe and Jente De Keyser.

Bulgaria

Sofia hosted the first stop of the 2025 Bulgarian National Beach Volleyball Tour. In the men`s tournament, second-seeded teenagers Zahari Zgurov and Georgi Antov pulled off a stunning upset in the final, defeating top seeds Dimitar Kalchev and Dimitar Mehandzhiyski 2-1 (14-21, 21-12, 15-12). Martin Yochev and Denislav Dimitrov won the bronze medal in a close three-set match (2-1 vs Konstantin Stoykov and Lachezar Stoimenov, 21-18, 17-21, 24-22). For the women, third-seeded Eleonora Gicheva and Darina Kindova also caused an upset, winning the final 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) against top seeds Ivet Gavrailova and Eva Petrova. Experienced pair Irena Mishonova and Desislava Nikolova claimed bronze with a hard-fought 2-1 victory (21-9, 21-23, 15-10) over Stefani Kyoseva and Veronika Ivanova.

Greece

The Hellenic Beach Volleyball National Tour held an event in Ios. Women`s top seeds Ioanna Perdikaki and Dionysia Matiou lived up to expectations, winning the final 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) against wild cards Elisavet Triantafillidi and Dimitra Manavi. The bronze medal was shared by Tatiana Moldovanidi & Persefoni Sakellaridi and Konstantina Tsopoulou & Mirto Kalamaridou. In the men`s event, wild cards Panagiotis Semitekolos and Christos Tsigaridas clinched gold, coming back from a set down to win the final 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-12) against third seeds Antiol Kola and Evangelos Sideris. Dimitrios Niopas & Thodoris Papadimitriou and Antonios Karykas & Konstantinos Venios shared third place.

Hungary

Nyiregyhaza was the site of a stop on the Telekom Beach Volleyball Hungarian Championship tour. Third seeds Matyas Kunert and Levente Polgar won the men`s gold in a very tight three-set final (21-12, 17-21, 17-15) against qualifiers Vilmos Szabo and Marcell Mikulass. Daniel Kiss and Viktor Erik Ban took bronze via forfeit. The women`s title went to top seeds Eszter and Zsofi Vasvari, who came back from a set behind to defeat second seeds Chiara Honti-Majoros and Adrienn Szabo 2-1 (19-21, 21-13, 15-10). Hanna Gubik and Eszter Nagy claimed bronze with a 2-0 win (25-23, 21-9) over Reka Munkacsi and Fanni Uhlmann.

Italy

The Fonzies Absolute Italian Beach Volleyball Championship tour stop in Catania featured a women`s final between the top two seeds. Chiara They and Sara Breidenbach won the gold medal, upsetting top seeds Alice Gradini and Federica Frasca in a hard-fought three-set match (2-1, 21-18, 24-26, 15-12). Giada Benazzi and Erika Ditta finished third with a 2-0 victory (21-18, 21-17) over Sharin Rottoli and Oriola Shpuza. For the men, Daniele Lupo and Davide Borraccino won the title, coming back from a set down to beat top seeds Carlo Bonifazi and Raoul Acerbi 2-1 (17-21, 21-19, 15-10) in the final. Mauro Sacripanti and Giacomo Titta secured bronze, defeating Matteo Martino and Edgardo Ceccoli 2-0 (21-17, 21-13).

Latvia

A DEPO Open Latvian Championships national tour event was held in Saulkrasti. Ardis Bedritis and Arturs Rinkevics swept the men`s final, defeating wild cards Janis Smedins and Ernests Puskundzis 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) to claim the trophy. Top seeds Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots took bronze with a 2-0 win (21-16, 21-17) against Audrius Knasas and Edgars Tocs. In the women`s final, former world number one pair Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova, the top seeds, won gold in a thrilling three-set match, coming back from a set down to beat second seeds Liva Ebere and Deniela Konstantinova 2-1 (19-21, 21-17, 20-18). Varvara Brailko and Vanesa Grosberga secured bronze with a 2-0 victory (21-18, 21-16) over Krista Paegle and Kitija Adamsone Martini.

Netherlands

The Eredivisie Beach national tour in the Netherlands stopped in Almelo. Serena van der Made and Rianne Stok were the women`s winners, achieving a 2-1 victory (21-19, 17-21, 15-10) over top seeds Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz in the final. Second seeds Floor Hogenhout and Trijntje Veerbeek earned bronze with a 2-0 sweep (21-19, 21-17) against Nigella Negenman and Esmee Radstake. In the men`s competition, top seeds Cain van Hal and Mart van Werkhoven secured gold, mounting a 2-1 comeback (23-25, 21-18, 15-10) in a hard-fought final against Nikita Artamonov and Lennaert Hogenhout. Second seeds Quin Bruins Slot and Bram Zijl finished third with a 2-1 win (21-16, 14-21, 15-11) over Romke Praamstra and Niek Schiphof.

Poland

Poland`s Orlen Beach Volley Tour held an event in Bialystok. Starting from the qualifications, Jakub Zdybek and Pawel Lewandowski made an impressive run to win the men`s gold, defeating third seeds Piotr Groszek and Igor Ciemachowski 2-0 (25-23, 21-13) in the final. Top seeds Jaroslaw Lech and Tomasz Jaroszczak won a dramatic bronze medal match, squeezing out a 2-1 victory (23-25, 21-12, 16-14) against Hungary`s Bence Tari and Akos Veress. Both medal matches in the women`s tournament were three-set duels. Patrycja Jundzill and Julia Gierczynska claimed the trophy with an epic 2-1 comeback (22-24, 23-21, 15-9) against top seeds Agnieszka Adamek and Aleksandra Gromadowska. Magdalena Lewandowska and Klaudia Turkot completed the podium with a 2-1 turnaround (9-21, 21-14, 15-13) against Weronika Antczak and Justyna Czupryniak for the bronze.

Slovakia

The third stop of Slovakia`s 2025 Nike Summer Beach Tour took place in Presov. The top three seeds finished in order on the women`s podium. Top seeds Barbora Tokosova and Martina Terenova won gold with a 2-0 sweep (21-9, 21-12) over Eva Elekova and Andrea Bundzelova. The mixed Slovak-Czech pairing of Lesia Slezakova and Beata Rockova secured bronze in a three-set comeback victory (2-1, 19-21, 21-16, 20-18) against Ella and Emma Erteltova. In the men`s event, Igor Horvath and Marek Ludha won gold with a narrow 2-1 win (16-21, 21-17, 16-14) over Matus Krajco and Michal Kilian in the final. Top seeds Kamil Pavlinsky and Patrik Marcok received bronze due to an injury withdrawal by Marian Lukac and Simon Cervenak.

Spain

Orihuela hosted a stop on the Spanish National Beach Volleyball Circuit. Men`s top seeds Antonio Saucedo and Alvaro Viera won the final 2-0 (21-12, 23-21) against second seeds Daniel Moreno and Roberto Sanfelix. The mixed Spanish-Ukrainian pair of Isaac Levinson and Sviatoslav Karvatskyi earned bronze with a 2-0 upset (21-16, 21-10) against third seeds Jeene Dimi Nijkamp and Javier Huerta. In the women`s competition, top seeds Nazaret Florian and Adriana Serrano claimed the trophy with a decisive 2-0 victory (21-17, 21-9) over Amparo Hopf and Raquel Palma. The mixed Ukrainian-Argentinean duo of Viktoriia Khilko and Maria Laura Moreno took a tough bronze medal match victory (2-1, 21-17, 14-21, 15-11) against the Estonian-Lithuanian pairing of Kadri Puri and Erika Kliokmanaite.

Ukraine

The Ukrainian National Championship Tour held an event in Kyiv. Oleksandra Kutniakova and Anna Shumeiko won the women`s gold, achieving a 2-0 upset (21-14, 21-18) against second seeds Iryna Makhno and Iryna Nikitchuk in the final. Third seeds Inna Makhno and Vladyslava Lysenko secured bronze with a 2-0 win (22-20, 21-14) over qualifiers Tetiana Onopriichuk and Valentyna Karpik. For the men, top seeds Vitalii Savvin and Anton Moiseiev won gold with a tight 2-0 victory (21-14, 25-23) over second seeds Richard Likhatskyi and Illia Tiurin. Mykhailo Merkulov and Yaroslav Tymchenko claimed the bronze medal with a 2-0 upset win (21-13, 21-19) against third seeds Roman Bondarenko and Volodymyr Kelbas.
