Netherlands Confirmed as Host for 2027 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships

The Netherlands has been officially named the host nation for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2027, a decision jointly confirmed by the FIVB and Volleyball World.

This selection follows a highly competitive bidding process that saw three strong proposals from shortlisted countries. While all bids were recognized for their quality and potential to contribute to the sport`s global expansion, the Dutch proposal distinguished itself with its ambitious and wide-reaching concept, designed to be spread across four cities.

The Dutch National Federation, Nevobo, possesses extensive experience in orchestrating major volleyball events, including the Volleyball Nations League and previous FIVB Volleyball World Championships. Their proven track record demonstrates a significant ability to engage communities across various regions.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming 2027 Beach Volleyball World Championships, FIVB President Fabio Azevedo remarked that the event signifies both a return and a progressive stride, aligning perfectly with the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, which aims to strengthen the global volleyball movement. He conveyed confidence that this championship will establish new standards for excellence, innovation, sustainability, and community involvement. Azevedo looks forward to close collaboration with Nevobo and local partners to ensure an unforgettable celebration, both on and off the sand, highlighting the Netherlands` passionate fanbase and successful history, including the highly acclaimed 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships hosted across four cities, as testament to their readiness to deliver another outstanding tournament.

Guido Betti, Chief Business Officer at Volleyball World, added that the Netherlands` approach to the World Championships transcends merely hosting a tournament; it focuses on cultivating a lasting legacy for beach volleyball throughout the entire country. He observed the rapid growth of beach volleyball and its competitions, asserting that the Dutch strategy precisely embodies the desired direction for the sport`s future development.

Peter Sprenger, President of Nevobo, underscored that hosting the 2027 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is more than just a single event; it`s about planting a seed for sustainable growth and delivering enduring social and economic advantages. Drawing upon their 15-year strategy of organizing international indoor and beach volleyball events, Sprenger affirmed their firsthand experience of how the sport can inspire communities and attract new fans. He anticipates that, as beach volleyball`s popularity continues to surge worldwide and within the Netherlands, this event will draw numerous new sports enthusiasts, inspire future generations, and strengthen community bonds, ultimately creating a thriving legacy that will elevate beach volleyball across the country and the world for years to come.
