Netherlands Dominates Egypt for Second Win at Thailand 2025 World Championship

The Dutch delivered a merciless sweep in their recent encounter against the North Africans.

The Netherlands secured their second consecutive victory at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Thailand this Sunday, claiming the top position in the current Pool A standings. Their commanding performance saw the Dutch team deliver a decisive shutout against Egypt, much to the delight of over three thousand fans gathered in Bangkok.

The European squad demonstrated impeccable form, executing a flawless 3-0 sweep against their opponents with set scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-13 in their second match held in the Thai capital. This result not only bolstered the Netherlands` position but also marked Egypt`s second defeat in the tournament.

The Netherlands proved superior across all scoring categories, with a particularly strong showing in attack, where they recorded 44 successful spikes compared to Egypt`s 25. Highlighting the team`s offensive prowess was 21-year-old opposite Nicole Van De Vosse, who achieved an impressive 77% spiking success rate. She led all scorers with 12 points, contributing an ace and a crucial block kill. Similarly, 22-year-old outside hitter Iris Vos also reached double digits with 10 points, showcasing a 70% success rate on her swings, complemented by two block kills and an ace. For the Egyptian side, outside Mariam Metwally Mohamed Morsy, known as Meeto, was their leading scorer of the match with nine points.

Looking ahead, tournament hosts Thailand are scheduled to face Sweden later on Sunday in the final Pool A match of the day in Bangkok.
