Norway’s “Vikings” Claim Historic Fifth EuroBeachVolley Title

The 33rd edition of the European Beach Volleyball Championship (EuroBeachVolley 2025), held in Düsseldorf, Germany, culminated in an absolutely thrilling final. The championship match featured a clash between two of Europe’s premier beach volleyball pairings from the last decade: Sweden’s innovative jump-setters, David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig, and Norway`s celebrated “Beach Volley Vikings,” Anders Mol and Christian Sørum.

Following a day of two intensely competitive semi-final matches, the grand final certainly lived up to all expectations. The contest unfolded set by set, leading to an eagerly anticipated tie-break. In this decisive third set, the seasoned Norwegian duo showcased their superior stamina and tactical prowess, securing an impressive victory. This triumph marks a historic milestone for Mol and Sørum, as they clinch their fifth European title, adding another prestigious accolade four years after their previous continental win.

The final score saw Åhman/Hellvig narrowly defeated by Mol/Sørum with a score of 1-2 (17-21, 21-16, 15-11).

Earlier in the day, an all-Dutch bronze medal match took place, where the pair of Brouwer and van de Velde successfully secured third place and a spot on the podium. Their hard-fought victory against fellow Dutch competitors Boermans and de Groot concluded with a score of 1-2 (21-11, 24-26, 13-15).
