Alessia Orro, the 27-year-old setter, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the FIVB Volleyball Women`s World Championship after leading Italy to their second title in Thailand on Sunday. Her exceptional setting skills were crucial to their victory.

Orro also secured a spot on the prestigious Dream Team for this 20th edition of the World Championship. This team featured players from all four semifinalist nations, underscoring the global talent and intense competition in women`s international volleyball.

A vital member of the Italian national team since 2015, Orro has been instrumental in a historic period for the squad. Over the past 15 months, she contributed significantly to their World Championship, Paris Olympics, and two Volleyball Nations League titles, all achieved during an impressive 36-match winning streak.

During the World Championship, Orro achieved 143 successful setting actions, ranking sixth overall despite Italy often securing quick three-set victories in their initial matches. Her role became even more critical during the pool play against Cuba and Belgium, where she was the team`s sole available setter due to Carlotta Cambi`s injury recovery.

While Orro`s crucial contribution to Italy`s success has been consistently acknowledged with “Best Setter” awards at the Paris Olympics and all three Italian VNL wins (2022, 2024, 2025), this World Championship marks her inaugural MVP title.

Orro was joined by two other Italian standouts on the Dream Team: Monica De Gennaro, the celebrated libero, and Anna Danesi, the team captain and middle blocker.

Türkiye, the silver medalist, saw their star opposite Melissa Vargas and captain/middle blocker Eda Erdem included in the Dream Team. Bronze medalist Brazil and fourth-placed Japan were also represented by their respective captains, Gabriela `Gabi` Guimarães and Mayu Ishikawa, who formed the formidable outside hitter pair.
