PVGW 2.0 Partners Review Educational Program Feedback and Discuss Project Legacy

Project partners meeting in Dublin
The project partners came together this past week at Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin

Partners involved in the `Play Volleyball – Grow with it (PVGW) 2.0` project recently convened in Dublin. The main purpose of the meeting was to examine the final report on the project`s educational program, presented by Aurélien Favre from the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE). They also reviewed other project outcomes and discussed the future impact and legacy of the initiative.

A survey distributed among the four participating National Federations (Austria, Iceland, Ireland, and Romania) gauged coaches` and teachers` opinions on the project`s educational materials. Satisfaction levels were very high, averaging 4.35 out of five. Respondents noted using the resources mainly for children aged 9-14. They specifically praised the material`s effectiveness in facilitating a structured development process, its flexibility for various skill levels and ages, its success in encouraging active participation, and its ability to enable highly effective engagement with young players.

This guide has proven beneficial for developing children`s technical and various motor skills, alongside fostering teamwork abilities. It also supports children transitioning from school-based volleyball to participation in local clubs. Furthermore, the materials promote volleyball`s status as an inclusive sport by encouraging the involvement of children with physical and intellectual disabilities.

While acknowledging potential for further enhancement, respondents expressed strong appreciation for the initiative and the support offered by the guide. They requested additional material aid, particularly for disadvantaged schools and clubs where resources are most needed. Suggestions were made for increasing in-person seminars and for the CEV to launch more similar programs and regularly update existing educational content.

Future steps for the project partners include creating a database of stakeholders and compiling a legacy report. This report will cover aspects like the potential creation of a Grassroots Coaching Licensing Project, intended to be developed in close collaboration with the European Coaches Commission (ECoC).
