Recent National Beach Volleyball Tour Results Across 11 Nations

Several European countries recently hosted national beach volleyball tournaments, showcasing top talent and intense competition. Here’s a look at the results from the tour stops in Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and Ukraine.

Belgium

At the Belgian Beachvolley Championship tour stop in Vilvoorde, Jade Van Deun & Youna Coens secured the women’s gold, defeating Lotte Pareyn & Annelore Bex 2-0 (23-21, 21-13) in the final. Britt Ruysschaert & Isabel Van den Broeck claimed the bronze, overcoming Lola Bombeke & Lente Thant 2-1 (20-22, 21-11, 15-8) after dropping the first set.

In the men`s competition, top seeds Joppe Van Langendonck & Kyan Vercauteren won the gold in a three-set match against Louis Vandecaveye & Gilles Vandecaveye, coming back to win 2-1 (20-22, 21-14, 15-8). Daan Hendrikx & Christophe Witvrouwen finished third, sweeping the bronze medal game 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) against Seppe De Keyser & Jente De Keyser.


Bulgaria

Sofia hosted the initial stop of the Bulgarian National Beach Volleyball Tour. The men`s final saw second seeds Zahari Zgurov & Georgi Antov achieve a notable 2-1 (14-21, 21-12, 15-12) victory over top seeds Dimitar Kalchev & Dimitar Mehandzhiyski. The bronze medal match was a tight three-setter, with Martin Yochev & Denislav Dimitrov prevailing 2-1 (21-18, 17-21, 24-22) against Konstantin Stoykov & Lachezar Stoimenov.

On the women`s side, third seeds Eleonora Gicheva & Darina Kindova took the top spot by defeating top seeds Ivet Gavrailova & Eva Petrova 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) in the final. Irena Mishonova & Desislava Nikolova secured bronze after a hard-fought 2-1 (21-9, 21-23, 15-10) win over Stefani Kyoseva & Veronika Ivanova.

Greece

At the Hellenic Beach Volleyball National Tour stop in Ios, top-seeded Ioanna Perdikaki & Dionysia Matiou lived up to expectations, winning the women’s final 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) against wild cards Elisavet Triantafillidi & Dimitra Manavi. Tatiana Moldovanidi & Persefoni Sakellaridi and Konstantina Tsopoulou & Mirto Kalamaridou shared third place.

Wild cards Panagiotis Semitekolos & Christos Tsigaridas captured the men’s gold, coming from behind to beat third seeds Antiol Kola & Evangelos Sideris 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-12). Dimitrios Niopas & Thodoris Papadimitriou shared third place with Antonios Karykas & Konstantinos Venios.


Hungary

The Telekom Beach Volleyball Hungarian Championship event in Nyiregyhaza saw third-seeded Matyas Kunert & Levente Polgar win the men’s gold with a close 2-1 (21-12, 17-21, 17-15) final victory over qualifiers Vilmos Szabo & Marcell Mikulass. Daniel Kiss & Viktor Erik Ban received bronze due to a forfeit in the third-place game.

Top-seeded Eszter Vasvari & Zsofi Vasvari took the women’s trophy, also with a comeback win, defeating Chiara Honti-Majoros & Adrienn Szabo 2-1 (19-21, 21-13, 15-10) in the final. Hanna Gubik & Eszter Nagy secured bronze by beating Reka Munkacsi & Fanni Uhlmann 2-0 (25-23, 21-9).


Italy

The Fonzies Absolute Italian Beach Volleyball Championship stop in Catania featured a women`s final between the top two seeds. Chiara They & Sara Breidenbach won a challenging three-set match 2-1 (21-18, 24-26, 15-12) against Alice Gradini & Federica Frasca. Giada Benazzi & Erika Ditta earned bronze with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) victory over Sharin Rottoli & Oriola Shpuza.

Daniele Lupo & Davide Borraccino claimed the men’s title, coming back from a set down to defeat top seeds Carlo Bonifazi & Raoul Acerbi 2-1 (17-21, 21-19, 15-10). Mauro Sacripanti & Giacomo Titta took the bronze medal match 2-0 (21-17, 21-13) against Matteo Martino & Edgardo Ceccoli.


Latvia

A DEPO Open Latvian Championships tour event was held in Saulkrasti. Ardis Bedritis & Arturs Rinkevics swept the men’s final 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) against wild cards Janis Smedins & Ernests Puskundzis to win the trophy. Top seeds Martins Plavins & Kristians Fokerots secured bronze with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) win over Audrius Knasas & Edgars Tocs.

In a gripping women’s final, former world number one team Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova, the top seeds, narrowly won a tight 2-1 (19-21, 21-17, 20-18) comeback match against second seeds Liva Ebere & Deniela Konstantinova. Varvara Brailko & Vanesa Grosberga took bronze with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) victory over Krista Paegle & Kitija Adamsone Martini.


Netherlands

Serena van der Made & Rianne Stok were the women’s champions at the Eredivisie Beach national tour stop in Almelo, winning the gold medal match 2-1 (21-19, 17-21, 15-10) against top seeds Lisa Luini & Desy Poiesz. Second seeds Floor Hogenhout & Trijntje Veerbeek claimed bronze with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-17) sweep against Nigella Negenman & Esmee Radstake.

Top-seeded Cain van Hal & Mart van Werkhoven met expectations and won the men’s gold. They fought back from a set down to defeat Nikita Artamonov & Lennaert Hogenhout 2-1 (23-25, 21-18, 15-10) in the final. Second seeds Quin Bruins Slot & Bram Zijl secured bronze with a 2-1 (21-16, 14-21, 15-11) victory over Romke Praamstra & Niek Schiphof.


Poland

At Poland’s Orlen Beach Volley Tour stop in Bialystok, qualifiers Jakub Zdybek & Pawel Lewandowski had a remarkable run, winning the men’s gold with a 2-0 (25-23, 21-13) victory over third seeds Piotr Groszek & Igor Ciemachowski. In a dramatic bronze medal game, top seeds Jaroslaw Lech & Tomasz Jaroszczak narrowly defeated Hungary’s Bence Tari & Akos Veress 2-1 (23-25, 21-12, 16-14).

Three-set battles decided both medal matches in the women’s tournament. Patrycja Jundzill & Julia Gierczynska won the title with an epic 2-1 (22-24, 23-21, 15-9) comeback against top seeds Agnieszka Adamek & Aleksandra Gromadowska. Magdalena Lewandowska & Klaudia Turkot took bronze with a 2-1 (9-21, 21-14, 15-13) turnaround against Weronika Antczak & Justyna Czupryniak.


Slovakia

Slovakia’s Nike Summer Beach Tour continued with its third stop in Presov. The top three seeds claimed the women’s podium spots in order. Top seeds Barbora Tokosova & Martina Terenova dominated the final with a 2-0 (21-9, 21-12) sweep against Eva Elekova & Andrea Bundzelova. Lesia Slezakova & Beata Rockova won the bronze with a 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 20-18) comeback in a tie-breaker against Ella Erteltova & Emma Erteltova.

The men’s gold went to Igor Horvath & Marek Ludha, who secured a close 2-1 (16-21, 21-17, 16-14) win over Matus Krajco & Michal Kilian in the final. Top seeds Kamil Pavlinsky & Patrik Marcok were awarded bronze due to the withdrawal of Marian Lukac & Simon Cervenak from the third-place match.


Spain

At the Spanish National Beach Volleyball Circuit stop in Orihuela, top seeds Antonio Saucedo & Alvaro Viera earned a 2-0 (21-12, 23-21) victory over second seeds Daniel Moreno & Roberto Sanfelix in the men’s final. Isaac Levinson & Sviatoslav Karvatskyi caused an upset in the third-place match, winning bronze 2-0 (21-16, 21-10) against third seeds Jeene Dimi Nijkamp & Javier Huerta.

The women’s title also went to the top seeds, Nazaret Florian & Adriana Serrano, who decisively beat Amparo Hopf & Raquel Palma 2-0 (21-17, 21-9) in the final. Viktoriia Khilko & Maria Laura Moreno claimed bronze after a tough 2-1 (21-17, 14-21, 15-11) win against Kadri Puri & Erika Kliokmanaite.

Ukraine

Kiyv hosted a stop on the Ukrainian National Championship Tour. Oleksandra Kutniakova & Anna Shumeiko topped the women’s podium, achieving a 2-0 (21-14, 21-18) upset against second seeds Iryna Makhno & Iryna Nikitchuk in the final. Third seeds Inna Makhno & Vladyslava Lysenko won bronze with a 2-0 (22-20, 21-14) victory over qualifiers Tetiana Onopriichuk & Valentyna Karpik.

In the men’s final, top seeds Vitalii Savvin & Anton Moiseiev defeated second seeds Richard Likhatskyi & Illia Tiurin 2-0 (21-14, 25-23). The bronze medal match saw an upset as Mykhailo Merkulov & Yaroslav Tymchenko secured a 2-0 (21-13, 21-19) win against third seeds Roman Bondarenko & Volodymyr Kelbas.
