SRSE and ÉDRA retain Hungarian Beach Volleyball Club Cup titles for third straight year

The Hungarian Volleyball Federation recently concluded the 3rd annual Hungarian Beach Volleyball Club Cup. Seven women`s and seven men`s teams participated, setting a new record for the competition.

Following a qualification round on May 25, the men’s Final Four took place on June 7 in Csepel. Spectators witnessed high-level matches featuring talented young players with international experience. In the final, the top-seeded SRSE team faced ÉDRA. SRSE’s lineup included Bence Tari and Akos Veress (bronze at the U18 European Championship 2023, fifth at the U19 World Championship) and Lukas Borbély/Boldizsar Niemeier (silver at a Beach Pro Tour Futures in Burundi). ÉDRA featured Vilmos Szabó/Marcell Mikuláss Koch (fourth at the 2021 U20 European Championships) and 1st division indoor players Bandi/Bandi. The young SRSE team secured the victory in two straight matches.

The women’s final competition was held in Tata. Reigning champions ÉDRA faced a tough challenge from Strandsport SE in the semi-final, winning only after a Golden Set tie-break (15-10). In the other semi-final, Vasas defeated Beach Sport 2-0. The final between ÉDRA and Vasas was closely contested, with both teams boasting experienced, high-level players. ÉDRA’s roster included Lilla Villám (five-time national champion, MEVZA silver medallist), Stefánia Kun (ninth at U19 Worlds, MEVZA silver), and Flóra Zolnai (ninth at U19 Worlds). Vasas featured the Vasvári sisters, Zsofia and Eszter (fourth at the U20 European Championships, ninth at U21 Worlds). ÉDRA won the first match, but Vasas took the second. ÉDRA ultimately prevailed 15-12 in an exciting Golden Set.

These victories mark the third consecutive year that SRSE and ÉDRA have won their respective men`s and women`s titles. Their success earns them the right to represent Hungary in the Beach Volley European Cup 2025.
