Swiss teams celebrated a complete sweep of the men`s podium at the Geneva Futures tournament held last week. The top three spots on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour were claimed by Swiss duos: Yves Haussener & Julian Friedli won gold, Florian Breer & Luc Fluckiger secured silver, and Adrian Heidrich & Jonathan Jordan took bronze. This triumphant performance delighted the local fans.

The top-seeded pair, Yves Haussener and his 18-year-old partner Julian Friedli, lived up to their ranking by dominating the tournament with an undefeated record of five wins in Geneva. This earned them their second gold medal and fourth overall medal on the Beach Pro Tour together. Their run included a 2-0 (21-19, 21-17) semifinal victory over Norway`s Nils Gunnar Ringoen & Even Stray Aas, followed by an all-Swiss final where they came back from a set down to defeat Breer & Fluckiger 2-1 (20-22, 21-16, 15-11).

The 12th-seeded team of Breer & Fluckiger were unable to pull off an upset in the gold medal match but proudly claimed the silver, marking their first medal on the Beach Pro Tour. Their path to the final included an impressive comeback against the second-seeded Heidrich & Jordan in the semifinal, winning 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-12) after losing the first set.
Heidrich & Jordan, seeded second, secured the bronze medal by bouncing back in the third-place game. They won a tough match against Ringoen & Aas with a 2-0 (29-27, 21-15) scoreline. This bronze is their second Beach Pro Tour medal; they previously won gold last month at the Spiez Futures, another event held in Switzerland.
The men`s Geneva Futures tournament saw participation from 28 teams representing 15 different countries. The women`s Futures event in Geneva is scheduled to follow, taking place from June 26th to 29th.
