Tauron Liga Kicks Off Second Half: DevelopRes and Budowlani Lead the Charge

`Budowlani`

PGE Budowlani Łódź will move to second place if they earn any points against Mielec.

The 2025-2026 Tauron Liga, Poland`s premier women`s volleyball competition, is set to transition into the crucial second half of its regular season this weekend. Four major matches, forming the first leg of the second round, will take place across the country between Sunday and Tuesday.

While two fixtures have been rescheduled for later dates, eight of the 12 participating teams will take the court over the next few days, aiming to solidify their positions ahead of the playoffs.

DevelopRes Rzeszów Faces Challengers

The reigning Tauron Liga champions and current league leaders, KS DevelopRes Rzeszów, will be the first to start the second round. They host fifth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała on Sunday at 14:45 local time (15:45 UTC).

DevelopRes enters the match as the team to beat in the Polish league. They hold a clear lead at the top of the standings with 31 points (ten wins, one loss) and are currently riding an impressive run of eight consecutive victories.

Their opponents, Bielsko-Biała, had been on a strong upward trajectory, winning four straight matches and climbing from eighth to third place, before suffering a recent defeat to PGE Budowlani Łódź. Now in fifth place with 20 points (seven wins, four losses), the match against the champions presents a chance for Bielsko-Biała to potentially regain fourth place from ŁKS Commercecon Łódź (21 points), should they secure a stunning victory in Rzeszów.

However, beating DevelopRes is historically a difficult task for Bielsko-Biała. The Rzeszów side boasts a dominant head-to-head record (23 victories in 29 encounters) and triumphed in their most recent seven meetings, including a 3-1 road win during the 2025-2026 season opener in October.

Budowlani Aims for Runner-Up Spot

Third-placed PGE Budowlani Łódź will also be looking to climb the standings this weekend. They travel to face ninth-placed ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec on Sunday at 17:30 local time (18:30 UTC).

Budowlani currently sits on 21 points (nine wins, two losses), matching second-placed UNI Opole. They rank lower only due to an inferior set ratio. By securing any points in their upcoming match against Mielec, Budowlani will leapfrog Opole—whose match has been postponed—and claim the temporary second spot in the Tauron Liga table.

Other Key Fixtures

The third and final match scheduled for Sunday pits eighth-placed MOYA Radomka Radom against sixth-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz at 20:00 local time (21:00 UTC).

The first round of the second half concludes on Tuesday with a clash between two teams battling at the foot of the standings: 12th-placed EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki hosts 11th-placed #VolleyWrocław at 19:00 local time (20:00 UTC).
