Teams from USA and Costa Rica win Cayman Islands stop on NORCECA U23 Tour

The second event of the 2025 NORCECA U23 Beach Volleyball Tour took place at Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands. The United States pair of Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig won the women`s competition, while Julian Araya and Jhostin Varela from Costa Rica were victorious in the men`s tournament. Finishing second and third in the women`s event were Sofia Vega & Laura Molina of Costa Rica and Daniela Vigil & Karla Tovar of El Salvador, respectively. For the men, Yoel Guardado & Christopher Guardado of El Salvador earned silver, and Ayden Keeter & Carson Barnes representing the USA took bronze.

Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig, seeded second, dominated the women`s bracket, winning all five of their matches without losing a single set. Their path to gold included a decisive 2-0 (21-11, 21-18) win over Daniela Vigil and Karla Tovar of El Salvador in the semifinal, followed by a commanding 2-0 (21-10, 21-14) performance against Sofia Vega and Laura Molina of Costa Rica in the final.

Sofia Vega and Laura Molina, seeded fifth, reached the final by defeating Sierra Rayside and Destiny Layne of Barbados with an impressive 2-0 (21-7, 21-5) victory in their semifinal. Daniela Vigil and Karla Tovar, seeded sixth, also secured a podium finish by beating Rayside and Layne 2-0 (21-10, 21-14) in the bronze medal match.

Julian Araya and Jhostin Varela of Costa Rica continued their winning streak, claiming gold at Seven Mile Beach after their victory at the first tour stop in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic. The second seeds remained undefeated throughout their six matches, only dropping one set in their intense 2-1 (15-21, 26-24, 15-10) semifinal against Ayden Keeter and Carson Barnes of the USA. Araya and Varela then clinched their second consecutive NORCECA U23 Tour title by defeating Yoel Guardado and Christopher Guardado of El Salvador 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) in the final.

Yoel Guardado and Christopher Guardado, seeded fifth, reached the men`s final after a hard-fought three-set semifinal, winning 2-1 (18-21, 21-15, 15-12) against Brandon Burnside and Reed Venning of Canada.

In the men`s bronze medal match, the third seeds, Ayden Keeter and Carson Barnes, recovered after losing the first set to defeat Burnside and Venning 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-12).

The NORCECA U23 Beach Volleyball Tour stop at Seven Mile Beach featured competition between 14 women`s and 16 men`s teams from 13 different countries.
