Tectum ACHEL Celebrate Momentous Victory in Hartberg

Club Volleyball | News

The atmosphere was electric at the City of Hartberg Sports Hall for the CEV Volleyball Cup 2026 16th Final. TSV Raiffeisen HARTBERG, playing at home, aimed for a strong showing against Belgium`s Tectum ACHEL. However, the evening quickly favored the confident and controlled visitors, leaving the home side struggling from the outset.

Tectum ACHEL players and fans celebrating

The players and fans of Tectum ACHEL celebrate their resounding away victory in Hartberg.

The match opened tentatively, but ACHEL swiftly seized control. The Belgian squad demonstrated superior execution in serving, stable defense, and powerful attacks. HARTBERG, conversely, committed numerous errors and failed to establish their typical performance level. The disparity grew throughout the game, culminating in ACHEL securing a decisive 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-14, 25-18), leaving the hosts to reflect on what many considered their weakest performance of the season.

The statistics confirmed the one-sided nature of the contest: HARTBERG struggled both offensively and defensively, whereas ACHEL capitalized effectively on their opportunities. The visitors` strong blocking and intelligent play during crucial moments were particularly noteworthy. Despite individual efforts from some home players, the team cohesion was insufficient to reverse the match`s direction.

Post-match disappointment was palpable among the Austrians. The General Manager offered a candid assessment:

“There was little positive today, but such results are part of a demanding international season. I am confident the team will deliver a much-improved performance in Belgium and battle fiercely to force a Golden Set.”

Conversely, the contingent of nearly 30 traveling Belgian fans celebrated jubilantly, reveling in their team`s commanding performance and vital away victory.

For HARTBERG, the path forward is challenging, though not impossible. They recognize the necessity of significant improvement in the second leg to sustain their European campaign. ACHEL holds a substantial advantage heading home, but as is often the case in Volleyball, the outcome remains open.
