Unveiling Ceremony of Eda Erdem’s Monument On International Women’s Day

Eda Erdem Dundar, a remarkably talented and legendary middle blocker who captains both Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul and the Turkish national team, represents far more than just her athletic prowess in Türkiye; she is a national icon. On March 8th, celebrated globally as International Women`s Day, a special ceremony was held to unveil her sculpture. This event brought together many influential figures from the world of volleyball, including representatives from her club and the national federation.

Recognized as an inspiration for young girls and successful women, Eda Erdem Dundar shared her emotions with a heartfelt speech during the ceremony, expressing her deep gratitude.

Mehmet Akif Ustundağ, the President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, also addressed the attendees at the event. He highlighted Eda Erdem`s illustrious and successful career in his speech.

The monument dedicated to Eda Erdem was sculpted by Pinar Oktem Dogan. The artist drew inspiration from a memorable and iconic photograph of Erdem captured during the 2019 CEV Eurovolley match against Croatia.
