Lithuanian pair Dumbauskaite & Grudzinskaite claim silver, while France`s Descamps & Sobezalz secure bronze in the Geneva Futures event.
In their very first appearance on the Beach Pro Tour, Americans Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig clinched the gold medal at the Geneva Futures tournament. The silver medal in Switzerland went to Ieva Dumbauskaite and Gerda Grudzinskaite of Lithuania. Rounding out the podium, Elsa Descamps and Romane Sobezalz from France secured the bronze.
The 21-year-old American newcomers began their Geneva campaign in the qualification rounds. They achieved an impressive run of seven consecutive victories, culminating in their top finish, losing only two sets throughout the event. One dropped set was the extended second set during the final gold medal contest. Durish & Koenig, seeded 14th out of 16 teams in the main draw, pulled off an upset against the second-seeded Lithuanian team of Dumbauskaite & Grudzinskaite with a final score of 2-1 (21-16, 24-26, 15-5).
In the semifinals, the US team dominated Canada`s sixth-seeded Kaylee Glagau and Emma Glagau, winning in straight sets 2-0 (21-15, 21-18). The Lithuanian pair also had a decisive semifinal win, defeating fourth-seeded Descamps & Sobezalz 2-0 (21-19, 21-11) to book their place on the podium. This medal marks the second silver and fourth overall medal for Dumbauskaite & Grudzinskaite on the Beach Pro Tour. It`s their third podium finish this season alone, adding to a bronze at Nuvali Futures and a silver at Battipaglia Futures. Remarkably, they advanced to the Geneva final without dropping a single set in their first four matches.
Descamps & Sobezalz concluded the tournament with a 4-1 match record. Their only loss came in the semifinal against Lithuania, which placed them in the bronze medal match. The French duo rebounded successfully, sweeping the third-place playoff against the Glagau sisters 2-0 (21-12, 21-16). This is their second Beach Pro Tour medal as a team, following a silver earned at the Castellon Futures in 2024.
The women`s tournament in Geneva featured 25 teams from 14 nations, taking place a week after the men`s Futures event at the same location. The Beach Pro Tour Futures circuit will next move to Montpellier, France, scheduled from July 3 to 6.
