USA shut out Netherlands to snatch third VNL win

The U.S. women`s team secured their third victory in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League, defeating the Netherlands in straight sets on Saturday in Belgrade.
This decisive 3-0 win (set scores: 25-18, 25-22, 25-19) lifted the Americans to ninth place in the current VNL standings with a 3-4 record and 9 points, positioning them just below the cut-off for the Finals.
In contrast, the Dutch side experienced their third consecutive loss, dropping them to 11th place with a 2-5 record and 8 points.

USA dominated the match across all scoring categories, particularly in offense, leading to their well-deserved shutout victory.
Outside hitter Logan Eggleston was the top scorer of the match, contributing 14 points, including a successful kill block.
Opposite Madisen Skinner also had a strong performance with 13 points, featuring two kill blocks and an ace, and notably scored the match-winning point.
Middle blocker Dana Rettke was another key contributor, adding 12 points to the tally.
For the Netherlands, 21-year-old opposite Elles Dambrink led her team with 11 points.

“It’s been great! This group has so much great energy and we are so willing to adapt, adjust and get better,” experienced Dana Rettke commented. “I am just really proud of how they have been able to rise up to this challenge. I know for many of them, this is the first VNL, so it’s been so much fun to play with them and to have that experience with them. In general, I am really proud of the way this group has continued to get better every single day, no matter if it’s a match or a practice. So we are having a lot of fun!”

The Volleyball Nations League day`s action also included Korea challenging hosts Turkiye in Istanbul and France taking on hosts Serbia in Belgrade.
