U.S. Forces Strike Iranian Rocket Launchers Amid Escalating Tensions

August 31, 2026Diego Herrera1 мин

U.S. military forces launched an offensive against two Iranian rocket launchers situated on Larak Island on Sunday. This action was a direct response to observations of Revolutionary Guard forces preparing to deploy rockets armed with sea mines into the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command verified this information.

Navy Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, stated that Iranian forces were seen preparing rockets containing sea mines for launch into the Strait of Hormuz. He confirmed the U.S. forces' strike on the two launchers on Larak Island earlier that day. Captain Hawkins also noted that U.S. forces had recently completed the removal of sea mines from the international shipping lanes within the strait. He emphasized that U.S. forces are maintaining close surveillance of the region and are prepared to ensure the unimpeded flow of commerce through this critical maritime passage.

According to The Associated Press, this marks the first publicly confirmed U.S. strike on Iranian positions since the end of July. The ongoing conflict, now in its sixth month, has significantly impacted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial conduit for worldwide energy shipments.

Reports indicate that Iran's Revolutionary Guards have acknowledged the U.S. strikes, reported casualties, and have signaled an intent to retaliate.
