A three-day beach volleyball celebration is set to ignite the heart of the French capital from July 25 to 27, marking one year since the city hosted the unforgettable Olympic Games.
A year after beach volleyball captivated audiences worldwide during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, set against the iconic backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, the sport is poised for its triumphant return to the French capital. From Friday, July 25th to Sunday, July 27th, 2025, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), in collaboration with the City of Paris and the French Volleyball Federation (FFvolley), will host a vibrant three-day beach volleyball festival right in the city`s heart, at the City Hall.
The Eiffel Tower stadium became a global sensation throughout the Games, earning widespread praise from both fans and international media for its breathtaking setting and electric atmosphere. The Washington Post lauded it as “a towering achievement,” asserting that “no venue in Paris – or anywhere else – outshines the Eiffel Tower Stadium.” The Associated Press painted a vivid picture of spectators “waving baguettes, dancing the can-can, and singing along to music from a DJ,” transforming the 12,860-seat arena into “the hottest club in Paris.” The Wall Street Journal even went so far as to label it “the greatest stadium on earth.”
The City of Paris is dedicated to preserving the festive and vibrant spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a lasting legacy, achieved through a diverse summer sports program. A significant highlight of this initiative will be the installation of three beach volleyball courts on the forecourt of City Hall for the entire summer season. From July 12th to August 20th, both local residents and international visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the beach volleyball experience daily, from 13:00 to 19:00 local time.
Pierre Rabadan, Deputy Mayor for Sports, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the River Seine, stated: “This homage to the Games` most iconic venue, now situated in the heart of Paris at the City Hall forecourt, will enable the public to discover and engage with the sport. Thanks to this partnership with the FIVB and FFvolley, attendees will also have the chance to meet Olympic athletes and rekindle the emotions of the Games, coinciding with the first anniversary of the Opening Ceremony.”
Throughout the celebratory weekend of July 25th to 27th, visitors are warmly invited to participate in introductory volleyball sessions, enjoy casual matches on open-access courts, join family-friendly games on mini-courts, explore a dedicated sport and art area, and engage in a wide array of fun, volleyball-themed activities designed for all ages.
Adding to the excitement, the Paris 2024 women’s beach volleyball gold medallists from Brazil, Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda), alongside French men’s beach volleyball player Arnaud Gauthier Rat and his new partner Téo Rotar, will return to the Champs-de-Mars to revisit the unforgettable memories of the previous summer.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo commented, “Paris 2024 demonstrated how beach volleyball and its vibrant fan engagement truly belong on the world’s most significant platforms. With the magnificent Eiffel Tower as our backdrop and hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic fans generating an electric atmosphere at both venues, it was a defining moment for sports experiences. This summer, collaborating with our esteemed partners, we are reigniting that energy right in the city`s core. This time, it`s not merely about observing; it`s about actively participating on the sand. Everyone is welcome to embrace the excitement and join the festivities.”
Olympic champion Duda shared her thoughts: “What we experienced beneath the Eiffel Tower last summer is simply unforgettable. The fans` energy and passion, coupled with the stadium`s sheer beauty, will forever remain in my memory. And from what I’ve heard, many others share that sentiment! Returning to Paris this year means revisiting a place and a time that profoundly impacted our lives. We are eager to relive that magic and share it with everyone.”
Entry to this spectacular event is completely free and open to all. Whether you are a seasoned enthusiast or discovering beach volleyball for the very first time, this celebration offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with one of the summer`s most iconic and beloved sports spectacles.
